It has been quite the lovely day today.

We decided to get breakfast at Re.F.Use, we haven't been for a while but the urge hit today, and off we went. We got a Waste Not box while we were there and topped it up with stuff from the community pantry. You never know what is in the boxes until you have a rummage later and this one was decent, a big bag of potatoes, a cabbage, already cooked cabbage, lettuce, croissants, bread, buns, part baked buns, three different kinds of yoghurt, including Actimel, a four pint of milk, herbs, fresh beetroot, three mini trifles, randomly, a bottle of water, a skirt steak, lamb steaks and other things I can't remember right now. Well worth the £15 anyway.

From there we decided to phone and see if Catpawchino had any walk-in spots, and they did. We've been wanting to go for a while as they have a new sphinx kitten, Dobby, and oh my goodness, he's adorable!

We got to Newcastle early for our slot, so spent a bit of time walking along the quayside, looking at the kittiwakes under the Tyne bridge and just sitting in the sunshine, and it was just nice to soak in some sun.

We were the first group into the cafe so that meant we got the prime window seat, which also meant we got to sit next to Dobby. It was such a lovely hour, getting some kitten playtime and some pets of the other cats and chatting to the two ladies in charge and the other customers.

From there we went to the Vegan festival to meet up with Kayleigh, Lucy and Bodhi. We knew it was taking place in the student union building of the uni. What I knew, but apparently had a brain blip about, was Newcastle has two universities and we went to Newcastle student union and not Northumberland's, where we were supposed to go. That mistake led to a lot of walking the Newcastle campus trying to find the others, before realising that yeah, we were in totally the wrong place.

A walk to the car and a quick drive later and we were in the right place and met up with the others and had an hour or so sitting in the sunshine and just passing time with a coffee. I do think James missed the point of a vegan festival though. He saw a stall selling prawns and fancied them as it was well past lunch by then. I told him they'd be vegan prawns as even the coffee stall was only using plant milk, but he was insistent that it said prawns on the menu so they'd be prawns. And they were prawns, of the vegetarian kind. He did eat and like them, though.

And now we're home and it's nearly Eurovision final time.
