We went to see Red One on Friday, and it was fun, though a little more serious than I expected and with a pretty thin plot. But, it doesn't take much to make me happy in terms of Christmas films. Many of you will know how much I love my Christmas film at the cinema, each time going with a Christmas Cup drink from Costa. Well, with having to go to Durham due to the bus situation, the Costa there is at the other side of the town from the Odeon, so instead I had a red cup Gingerbread latte from Starbucks, and that hit the spot.
They'd even started to put the Christmas decorations up in Durham, though the tree outside the cinema was still bare, which was a shame.
I've been watching The Hardacres lately. It took a while to get into, but now I'm eager for the last episode tomorrow. I have to admit it does hit my embarrassment squick at times, and the Hardacres rags-to-riches storyline seemed a bit fast and unrealistic, but sometimes you just want a bit of escapism and a family to root for.
It was weight management class on Monday, and we talked about cholesterol
This was actually one of the most interesting talks I've been to, we talked about good and bad cholesterol and what you should eat or avoid in terms of each of those. I liked how Rosie stressed that many factors are at play, and if you have high cholesterol it doesn't just mean you've been eating the wrong things, genetics could be at play too.
We had a talk about swaps and what good things could be added to your diet. Which is why a bag of chia seeds came home with us the other day, and have been added to breakfasts ever since. And it was just interesting to talk everything through, because while I knew high cholesterol is bad, I didn't know the ins and outs about why, and exactly how it affects the body.
Then it was exercise and battle ropes time! Other things too, of course, but it seems the battle ropes are now a permanent fixture.
Thursday was our one to one meeting with Rosie, and I found out that since I started the scheme at the end of January I've lost 105 pounds, which is great. While James has lost 42. Rosie told me she'd used me as a case study as a successful participant and that I was famous, which felt a little weird, thinking about people talking about me. But, I do think the scheme has, and continues to be, amazing. Especially as while weight loss is partly a goal, the main focus is on health. So, I'll put up with that slight weird feeling if it helps the scheme keep their funding.
We talked about goals, and she wants me to try for longer at home workouts. I tend to stick to around 20 min routines, and she says now is the time to push for 30. While James has to try to do some sit down routines focussed on lower body. Then, we both have to refocus on the eating 30 plants a week challenge.
She also said that she'd be happy for us to continue going to the drop in sessions on an unofficial basis once this six month session is over. Plus, would be happy to occasionally do unofficial weigh ins and one to ones if we wanted. Which I think we both do, because for me, the accountability is something that really does help. See also, my sweaty, giant head selfies on Insta each Monday to show I've been to class.
So yes. It was a good meeting, and I'm pleased with how things are going.

I've learnt so much from these talks, and like you, on occasions been reminded about things I'd once known but had forgotten about. It's why I like them so much, I always take something away from them.

105lbs is AMAZING, you've done so well - are you feeling the health benefits just day to day.
