Dec. 27th, 2024 09:11 amI've had a very lovely Christmas.
Christmas Eve started going to Morrisons first thing to pick up the cream cake and fresh buns and bread. Took those home and gathered bags together before heading off to meet Kayleigh, Lucy, and Bodhi for our annual Christmas Eve Costa. And yeah, I know we often go at other times, but this Christmas Eve Costa has somehow become a thing. Kayleigh's bestie was also there with her daughter and two young nieces, so we settled in for well over an hour.
Then it was delivering presents to my in laws, my brother, and Pauline. Then back to my brother's when Pauline asked if we'd deliver her presents to him.
Christmas day we picked up Corey at 10am, and I was happy when he said he was planning to stay overnight, though it did mean a quick tidy and cover change of his bed as all the empty decoration boxes were on it. Once we'd picked him up, it was another drive around all the family as everyone wanted to see him. Then finally home early afternoon where I made a delicious Christmas dinner, even if I do say so myself.
Corey liked his new pans, and the other stuff we'd got him, and he bought his dad an excellent t-shirt and three boxes of chocolates, while I got two Lush gift sets and a comforter body spray. I got some lovely presents this year, though it was the year of duplicate themes, as James bought me a cat patterned dress and cardigan and Kayleigh got me a cat patterned cardigan too. While between James, Pauline and my MiL I got three new wax melt burners. Which were all thoughtful, as I do love stuff like that, just I laughed when I opened the third one. The one from James is electric to replace the one in the kitchen which got smashed when a bottle fell on it and has been held together with tape ever since. It's beautiful with a stag pattern, so I'm looking forward to setting that up. And in a total shocker from Kayleigh, she bought me a bottle of Karma perfume from Lush. It's the scent I love the most, and I wear it daily, but had run out a month or so ago, so I was thrilled to get it, but what surprised me the most was the size of the bottle. I always get the smallest size, but this one was the next size up and just, I'll be smelling delicious all year.
I managed to watch Wallace and Gromit and Gavin and Stacy on Christmas day, but everything else got recorded and will be watched in the next few days, I hope. I did like the last G&S, and thought the ending was very fitting.
Corey was at work, so we took him home around midday yesterday and my plan was to come home and put on the usual Boxing Day buffet, but I wasn't that hungry and neither was James, so I just made a sandwich and one box of the party food. Honestly, I was just so tired yesterday that I seemed to spend late afternoon and the evening on the verge of falling asleep. I'll have to watch the Strictly special again, as I zoned through most of it, and we were in bed just after 8. Which was ridiculous, but all the very early mornings and the late night before caught up with me.
Today we're off to Pauline's as she's having a small gathering at midday. So, the plan is to go to that and then home for some catch up TV and the rest of the party food that needs cooking.
I posted some photos on Insta if you'd like to see. I did wear the light up antlers and James was given some beard baubles, which of course he wore. My insta is public so they should be visible, but if they're not and you do want to see, I'll repost here,

And yay for so many cool gifts, even the duplicates!

Date: 2024-12-27 04:02 pm (UTC)I know! I actually would have thought I was shrinking when I saw the photos of us together, but it would have meant James was shrinking too *g*
The cat themed clothes are lovely, and luckily, all different patterns.

Date: 2024-12-27 04:05 pm (UTC)I was so pleased when Corey said he was staying over. And then impressed myself with how quick I got the bed changed and all the boxes put out of the way. Don't think Murphy was happy though, as he sleeps on Corey's bed usually *g*
I love all my gifts and have the electric wax melt lamp set up now, and it looks great. Though, I realised it's a touch one to turn on and off when I moved it, the light went out, and I thought I'd broken it already!

Date: 2024-12-28 08:26 pm (UTC)Such fun photos! You look fabulous in your starry night dress and light-up antlers and James look totally hilarious with his beard baubles - which I've never heard of before! Also, Corey is looking so mature and grownup!

Date: 2024-12-29 09:34 am (UTC)I was so tired on Boxing Day, I could have easily gone to bed from around 6, which was sad as it's a day I love. But yeah, I've caught up on sleep and relaxation now.
Thank you about the photos! I've seen beard baubles in shops before, but never seen anyone wear them. Until James! *g*

Date: 2024-12-31 03:06 pm (UTC)It sounds like a great Christmas, even with the duplicate pressies! And I'm not surprised you had a very relaxed boxing day evening - you've been so busy! I hope you're good and rested now?
I love that the Christmas Eve Costa has become a proper thing - it's a great way to catch up with loved ones and also to get a proper sit down with a wee treat and no washing up or tidying required!

Date: 2024-12-31 05:03 pm (UTC)I am rested now, thank goodness. I think it was the late night on Christmas Day that tipped me over the edge, as I tend towards early mornings and early nights, so going to bed close to midnight was unusual. But, I enjoyed Christmas so won't complain about being tired.
I do love our Christmas Eve Costa. You're right, it is a treat, and a time to just take a breath before the rest of the madness.

That's because you have excellent taste! I feel you'll understand this. I kept telling myself I wasn't going to buy more Lush stuff in the Boxing Day sale as I had lots. Yeah, that's why I came home with a bag full the other day. I mean, there was so much left and it was half price. How could I leave it!?
