Aug. 20th, 2025 05:00 pmI'm looking after Kayleigh's cats and tortoise atm, visiting twice a day, and man, having the two kittens makes the job so much harder. Fun, but I totally understand why the phrase like herding cats was invented.
We went to see Materialists yesterday, and while I really enjoyed watching Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, I can't say it gripped me, so I wouldn't really rec.
James also had an appointment with his back doctor. It was at the private hospital and when we got there we were told there was a 40-min delay. But in the end we only waited about 20 minutes, probably because the consultant was rattling through his appointments. James' literally took less than two minutes, asked if the pain was back, told yes, okay, can have the injections again, appointment will be sent as soon as possible, then done, out we went.
Today was weight management class, and I'm sure Rosie is starting to use trainer techniques on us as on the last circuit she said it would be an express round, and yet that express round lasted longer than the so-called non-express ones. Which I know, as on one spot you had to alternate with your partner on the weighted medicine ball and battle ropes, and I did more ball throws on the express round than on the others.
Also, I hate lunges so much. Especially lunging with my right knee, which really doesn't have the same range of movement as the left.
Before class I was telling Rosie how much I enjoyed the discussion last week and said I couldn't remember doing the topic before, which normally I do as this is my second go round of the programme. And she said it was the first time it had been done, and was something she'd created and added to the programme, and that she wanted to do more talks based on those kinds of themes, just it takes time to change things. So way to go her.
After the main topic, which was about drinks, which I do remember from before, we revisited the topic from last week, and she asked for any wins for the week. So I said about swimming and how it took a lot to actually walk out pool side in my swimming costume, especially showing my legs as normally they're totally covered. But, no one looked or said anything, and now it feels much easier. Everyone was so pleased for me, and said such lovely things, and really everyone should have a group like that as their personal cheerleaders.
I finally picked up my new compressions today. I actually got the thigh high pair last week, but those are meant for use in the house or just pottering around, so I haven't worn them much. But today I got the below knee ones meant for every day, and you know I'm going to wear the blue patterned ones tomorrow.
I'm going swimming again tomorrow morning. So it'll be cats, swimming and then back home to tidy up and move furniture as my MiL is coming to spend the week on Friday. I'm just hoping James' appointment doesn't come really early as there's already an overlap of looking after the cats and my MiL. I could do without James' being down for the count, too.

Date: 2025-08-20 09:29 pm (UTC)I know nothing about that film, other than my cinema sent an email for it saying ‘pov: imagine being between Chris evans and pedro pascal’ which felt wild.
That’s good his appointment was so straightforward

Date: 2025-08-21 11:08 am (UTC)I'm sorry you didn't love the movie (even though you did love Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal *g*), but I have to say it didn't sound all that interesting to me.
I'm glad you didn't have a long wait, because that always sucks, and that the appointment was quick. I hope James doesn't have to wait long (but longer than the week your m-i-l will be there o_O) to get his shot.
Have you considered that you're now living in the mirror 'verse and Rosie has been replaced by Evil!Rosie?!! *bg*
Yay for new compressions, finally!!

Date: 2025-08-23 11:45 am (UTC)Yeah, I was disappointed in the movie. If it wasn't for having my cinema card I doubt I would have gone to see it, but thought I'd give it a chance. Turns out, my instinct was right.
The private hospital tends to be good at getting appointments out fast, but I'm still hoping that it comes when my MiL is gone.

That would make a lot of sense! I'll have to give her a good look on WED, see if there are subtle physical differences.

Date: 2025-08-22 06:37 pm (UTC)Rosie is such an evil trainer!
Hooray for having a whole group of live cheerleaders all your own!!
Patterned compressions for the win!
I hope you'd a nice swim, the cats are behaving themselves, and the MiL's visit is going well!

Date: 2025-08-23 10:12 am (UTC)Rosie is so evil, and is getting worse!
The patterned compressions are lovely, I wish I'd got two pairs of coloured ones now.
Well, first morning of my MiL's visit, and all is well so far.
