Feb. 6th, 2026 04:00 pmApparently it's been getting bad reviews, but I'm still enjoying Starfleet Academy. I can't say which character I like the most, as I like them all. Though, Jay-Den is up there if I was forced to pick. I'm also enjoying how they keep referring to previous series, each mention of Voyager makes me beam, because that's still my Trek. Loved this latest ep too
SAM was amazing throughout, and Jay Den and Kyle together were all kinds of adorable. Though, after the breathing scene last ep I'll be keeping fingers crossed for an eventual thruple with Darem.
I also liked how they tied this latest ep to DS9, with so much content about Sisko. Then Avery Brooks talking at the end. I never thought I'd hear him again in a new Trek series. Then also, Professor Illa, full name Illa Dax, what a surprise that was.
It's raining, cold and windy today. It's been cold and rainy and windy for what feels weeks now, and the week ahead forecast is rain, wind, and cold. Joy. I don't mind going out in the rain, but do protest at going out into sleety rain that's lashing against my face due to the wind. Roll on some spring sunshine.
As part of the weight management programme I get an email on a Friday summing up the talks for the previous weeks, a couple of recipes and saying what sessions will be held the upcoming week. I read the email earlier and the sessions for my class are cancelled again next week, which does make me worry that something has gone wrong for Rosie as this would be a month the classes have been cancelled.
I've been trying to organise a wider family meal for Corey's birthday next week, and am getting nowhere. People are either broke or at work or school, so getting everyone together on his actual birthday week is a no-go. At this point, I'll be surprised if I can arrange anything this month at all.
Nearly bath and book time. I'm reading The Inheritance by Ilona Andrews atm and enjoying it. I knew I would, as their writing always hits the spot for me.
Oh, talking of books. When we went to restock some stock at the Craft Shop, the bookshop opposite was open, and all the books are free! You're limited to 6 items a day, and how I walked out with nothing still amazes me. Also great, they take books as donations so I can donate a load of books that I've read already.

Date: 2026-02-06 04:49 pm (UTC)I definitely enjoyed the newest episode that went back to DS9. I know you love Voyager, but it's one I never could get into. I watched the original, TNG, and DS9, plus all the movies. I have watched some of Strange New Worlds. And now, Starfleet Academy. But yeah, I loved that they tied back to DS9, and even got the same actor to play Jake! Yes, it was wonderful to hear Sisko (Avery Brooks) at the end. And yeah, the most recent version of Dax, very cool! This has been my favorite episode so far.
I'm sorry you're having cold, wind, and rain today. We're two for three. We're not expecting rain until MAYBE late Tues into Weds. But our weather guy says we need it. I need to go drive around in it if it comes down hard. My car has all that salt crap all over it. And I only drive about once per week.
Oh no! Is there any way you can check on Rosie to see if she's okay? Missing a whole month is pretty concerning.
Maybe just a nice family meal for Corey?
That's awesome, they offer books for free! I've been ordering new books of late. Mostly things I feel I SHOULD have read as a teen, or things I DID read as a teen, but don't really remember. I just ordered a 4-book collection including The Hobbit and the 3 LoTR books. I know I've read The Hobbit a few times, but not for decades. I'm not sure I ever read the other three. I remember my father and brothers reading all four books aloud, but not sure if I missed parts. Not sure why I wouldn't have read it on my own, but I don't ever remember. Of course, getting ready to hopefully move, I don't really have time to read, but hopefully once I'm moved, I can have a regular reading time in the evenings. Perhaps I shall read aloud to my cats! LOL
