It was a full week last week.

James had to take the rest of his annual leave or lose it, so only worked two days last week. And will only work two this week and then one next week, so score for him.

Which meant we got to get a lot done. One day we finally renewed our Beamish annual ticket and had our first visit there this year. We walked half the site, and had a really nice day in the spring sunshine. James did a post to his TikTok account if you want to see some of the site, that's here.

That same day we also picked up one of Re.F.Use's waste not fruit and vegetable boxes, and came home with a big crate of fresh food. I was the first person picking -- they leave the crates in a covered area, and you just pull up and pick up the one you want, so I went for the one that had a punnet of blueberries on top. Of course there were the usual lemons and grapefruit I never know what to do with, but mostly it was an excellent selection. The extra this time was each crate had a bunch of tulips on top and very pretty they were too.

Another day we went to the cinema to see Mother's Pride, and I enjoyed it lots.

On the not so enjoyable side, I came down with a horrible head cold, and started to declutter the garage which was a dirty and challenging job. But, a load of stuff went to the tip yesterday so we've made a start.

Saturday was another craft fair, and we actually made more than we spent this time, so things are going in the right direction. But, I must admit, after four Saturdays in a row, I'm glad we're having a break from craft fairs this weekend coming.

Rosie was also back, so I went to two classes. The weekend before Monday's class she sent a group message asking people not to ask her why she'd been off as it was complicated. Which, fair enough, I would have hoped no one would ask anyway, but she obviously needed that extra reassurance. Class went well, a bit awkward at times as she seemed a bit reluctant to chat as much as she used to. No doubt worried what people would say, but it was only a small group of people who've been with her for a very long time, so by the end things seemed back to normal.

Wednesday was the talk/exercise class plus we had a one to one after class, so I'll cut as I'm going to talk about weight stuff.

It was such a good talk, again, it was only a small group of oldies, and we discussed motivation and what motivated us to keep going. Because we were such a small group who knew each other, some touching, and deep, reasons were discussed, and for me, I talked about how at my highest weight on a few different occasions people thought it was okay to take photos of me. And the reaction from the group was so good, validating and supportive as I shared how losing so much weight allows me to go on living without fear of being ridiculed, to fit in chairs with arms, to be able to walk and actually do stuff.

They were my people cheering me on, and this is why I love the class so much, and that session gave me back so much. As did the one to one later. Turns out I've put on a couple of pounds since the last one to one, which was before Christmas, so not terrible, but not a direction I want to keep going in.

Not that I was surprised, I've continued going to the gym, but without Rosie's classes, the amount was cut by half and I've coasted a little with eating. Rosie thinks I'm eating at maintenance calories, and honestly, I could probably get away with sticking where I am now and feel okay, but I want to lose more. So, I'm back carefully tracking and hopefully, will be going in the right direction next time I see her for a one to one.

But what helped most in that session was she shared some things herself. Rosie is extremely fit, used to be a circus acrobat, runs, bikes, everything, but she admitted that often she doesn't want to exercise either and needs her own motivation reasons. And that was such a good thing to share, as all too often I'm guilty of thinking that everyone fit and healthy finds it effortless, which isn't the case at all.

Rosie also said stuff that strongly suggested she was off so long due to mental health reasons, saying she'd been told not to even look at social media or her work phone. Which wasn't a surprise as she does her full-time job on top of trying to finish her Masters degree, while adjusting to newly married life. Which just shows, everyone has their struggles, even if on the surface, they don't show them.

So yeah, it was a good meeting that made me feel better afterwards.

Class should have been this morning but wasn't on, though Rosie did stress this was a planned thing and everything will be back to normal from Wednesday. So I've been to the gym first thing, along with half the population of my town it seemed.

I hope James is enjoying a few days off! Always better to use them than lose them.

I wish we had something like Re.F.Use here. It sounds like a wonderful program. We have something available that I think is called misfits, but I've looked at the pricing and it's more than I pay at the grocery store for the same items that aren't misfits (odd shapes, sizes, or colors). Perhaps a neighbor or Corey would like the citrus? I can't say I ever liked grapefruit and it's not recommended here for seniors as it interacts with medications and supplements in a not good way. Lemons can be nice for seasoning stir-fries, and especially seafood. Not healthy really, but fresh-squeezed lemon juice with some sugar makes a tasty fresh lemonade.

Sorry you caught a cold. I hope you can shake it quickly.

That's a win to make more than you spent!

Glad to hear your classes are back on track. It sounds like Rosie must have been through something! But yeah, it's certainly her right to keep her personal troubles personal. Hopefully, everyone will respect her desire to keep it personal, and everything can get back to normal ASAP.
