Jan. 14th, 2012 08:04 pmTook mam to get her leg checked yesterday, and by the time we got home I was wiped. We hadn't even done anything that strenuous, just a lot of standing and sitting around, one waiting room after another.
The day before it was Corey's college interview at Durham. It's a much smaller facility than Sunderland and as it's actually a sixth form attached to a school, though one a few miles away, it operates in a much more structured way. That difference was something our guide made sure to stress, and that Corey needed to decide which of the two approaches would suit him best. Sunderland where there are more free periods and teachers who take a more background role in terms of making sure people turn up for lessons etc, or Durham where every period has a lesson and teachers who won't let anyone fall behind.
After all that Durham is still his first choice, so thankfully he was offered a place as long as he gets good enough exam results. Which is fantastic as it's a college that comes with a waiting list to get in.
Today I've been stripping more wallpaper in the bedroom. I've reached the walls around the bed now so I could watch Boardwalk Empire at the same time. Tomorrow it should be done and we can move onto wall prep and then actually go buy some paint and get the place looking nice again. I'm thinking something bright, we've got green daisy print curtains, a load of Penguin Pete prints with blue frames and the bedding is either yellow or blue, so I was thinking maybe a bright yellow for the walls.
Keeping to the domestic theme, I've had a chicken casserole cooking in the slow cooker all day and we've just had it for tea. Chicken and dumplings, om nom nom. Now I'm off for a bath complete with Lush bubbles and a good book. No doubt I'll be out in an hour or so looking like a giant prune yet again.
