It was Corey's first parent's evening at college yesterday. He's doing okay, really well in his computer class, fine in maths and chemistry, though both think he could push and do better -- but is on a failing grade for biology. The teacher was really nice, saying that stepping up from secondary school biology to college level is hard, and that it was obvious he has a passion for the subject, just the work hadn't clicked yet, but still, it was obvious he was a little disappointed. Every single one also said that he doesn't talk enough in class, which is a comment we've had from when he first started school. But, knowing he does know the work and just doesn't speak up, they all said they're going to ask him stuff in class, which I'm glad about.

I remain glad he went to that college. All the teachers seemed determined to push without going overboard, and with it having such a strict structure he's there from first thing to when college ends, meaning free periods can be used for homework and revision. I guess now it's a case of seeing what happens and re-evaluate next term if need be.

A few months back I mentioned how they'd shut the footbridge to our estate and hadn't told anyone they were going to do so beforehand. Well, it's shut again for two weeks, but this time we were all warned and they've put on a bus. The poor driver spends all day from 8am to 6pm driving to three spots on the estate, which is only small with 90 houses, and then driving any passengers down the slip road and letting them out where the footbridge ramps start. It's a journey of all of a minute, but the only safe way for some people to get into town. Or if you're the kidlet, jump over the fence and go down the bank.

More MCR music has appeared! While I neither song is as catchy as the first lot, I do like them, especially Ambulance.

This morning I finished reading The Selection, a book about how a Prince has to select his wife from a group of women drawn supposedly at random throughout all the different levels within that world. It sounds sleazy written like that but isn't at all, the worldbuilding is interesting and the characters make me root for them, well some anyway. But it ended with the story not being wrapped up. I wasn't amused at all. I really liked the book too, it's kept me engaged all the way through, and now I'm being denied the end until next year. Sadly though, I suspect the threesome I'm hoping for won't happen.

Stuffsit is still coming on nicely. I've only scraped my mini nano targets the last few days but at least I've got them, and have written a nice chunk today.

Finally, the Way family are being ridiculously adorable on twitter. From Mikey's cold picture of awesome to Gerard and Lindsey tweeting each other when next to each other and posting a pic of Bandit to Alicia posting video of Bunny. It's just, I've missed them doing stuff like that so much. Do not leave again, Ways!
