Snowflake Challenge Day Seven, Nine and Ten

Electric Century released a new song yesterday and I like it a lot. There was also Way bro cuteness on twitter the other day. A+ use of your time Mikey Way.

This morning James was at the hospital to see his consultant about his hand, just a regular check-up kind of thing. I was hoping he'd be discharged but it's not to be as his wrist has been clicking lately so they want to keep an eye on it. They also wanted to try and wean him off wearing a splint but he wasn't having any of it. He's had so much work done on his wrist that he's afraid of falling and wrecking everything, which is a valid concern as he's not that steady on his feet. What was worthy of an eye-roll was one of the younger doctors who suggested James try and develop muscle in his arm. Considering his arms are fixed I'd love to know how that was going to happen.

But anyway, that was this morning. This afternoon James is driving Corey to a university interview so I've got the house to myself this afternoon. Between pottering, answering some comments, deleting emails and replying to snowflakes I may even blow the dust off gdocs.

Honestly, I'm lost on this one. Google is my go-to when I want to know something. If I want more personal answers I'll put out a call on twitter or ask someone who I think will be able to help or else point me in the right direction.

Other than that I don't do anything special. I just write on gdocs and ask for help if needed, that's it.

Not as much as I used to, that's for sure. But, I write, co-mod mikeyway_daily and I also comment a lot. In fact, I noticed lately I'm coming up to the 100,000 comment mark over at LJ. Not all fannish, obviously, but yeah, I like to comment. Especially so on fic. If I read something and like it I'll tell the writer so. I don't care if they reply or not, I just want them to know what I think.

I could pick so many people here, but the person I'm going to pick is inlovewithnight. There's not a story of hers that I've read that I haven't enjoyed. Her writing is beautifully clear and everything so in character. It helps that she enjoys a lot of things that I do, so often it feels like the stories in my head have been written, but by someone with incredible talent.

Her Ways bros are fantastic, her Pete amazing, but more than that, her side-characters well fleshed out -- for example, Gabe's dad is now a favourite, and her world-building just right.

If you haven't read her work before, I'd highly recommend you do so.

I'm going to rec two recent stories and two that are older.

The Eighth Rest by teigh_corvus. T is another great writer and has an imagination that constantly amazes me. I really liked this story, mainly because it's MCR with Bob and Brian, and while I love the later versions of MCR, this is the one I always come back to as loving the most. That has great group interaction, mystical creatures and an intriguing AU. Which is T's work all over.

Leave the Lights On When You Stay by inlovewithnight. It's Mikey, Pete and Gabe, and Night continuously writes them all beautifully. A bit of h/c, some sexwork, a threesome. There's not a chance in hell I wouldn't have liked this.

Charmed Heart by akamine_chan. This is another magical AU and one I like a lot. It has great Ways bros, a Mikey/Frank relationship I really like -- many more people need to write Mikey/Frank, I'm just saying. Don and Donna written really well, and in general, is just a great story.

Are You Ready For More by romanticalgirl. It's Mikey/William which may scare some people off, but it shouldn't. This is damn hot and has the huge bonus of a fantastic Mikey and Pete friendship, something that always makes me happy. Seriously, every story going should have Mikey and Pete being friends. So yes, if you think that's something you'd enjoy go read.
