Aug. 30th, 2015 06:29 pmMam is home now, which is good. Considering she's back to complaining she must also be feeling better.
But a day after she came home James' uncle unexpectedly died. Some of you may remember me mentioning James' cousin who had cerebal palsy. He died a couple of years ago, and his dad died the day before what would have been the cousin's 21st birthday. It's all very sad, especially for James' aunt who's been left devastated.
Other than that things have been good. Yesterday we had a long busy day which I really enjoyed.
It started early because I had a grocery order to pick up from Asda then we drove to lidl as one of their half price weekend offers were their multi pack crisps, and they're very tasty crisps too. After managing to jam many bags into the boot we decided to drive to Durham and go visit the cathedral.
We had such a lovely time wandering around -- and mobility wise, man can I feel the difference in just the amount of weight I've lost already. What made it even more lovely was someone was getting married in the cathedral on the afternoon. They were decorating when we were there, and the flowers were amazing. Later we found out 40k had been spent on just the flowers alone and I could well believe that. I've never seen anything so beautiful and the whole of the main cathedral was decorated.
Later we waited outside to see the bride arrive, and was glad that we did as she arrived by horse and carriage. Four beautiful black horses wearing huge white plumes on their heads and the carriage decorated with more flowers. It was stunning, and the bride was beautiful.
After leaving Durham we drove to Sunderland. I had an optician's appointment at 4:20 but we had an hour to spare, so we decided to look around the winter gardens and the museum. From there we went to my appointment. I haven't actually had my eyes checked since I was in school, but they'd been aching a bit lately, so thought I'd better go get them seen. And they were fine, no glasses needed, just told to take a break from close work every now and then. By which I suspect she meant, get off the computer more often *g*
After that we went to Sainsburys to pick some groceries up for mam, and by that point my knees were really not happy with me. Dropped that stuff off, came home, James took Corey to a party and I managed to drag myself up the stairs for a much needed shower.
So yes, it was a good day, and one I enjoyed. I have photos, as always taken from my instagram so sorry for those seeing them twice. ( Photos )
