Nov. 12th, 2015 01:39 pmI've been reading a ridiculous amount of Musketeers fic lately. Seriously ridiculous. I'm doing that awesome new fandom thing of jumping links until you've multiple tabs open, both on my desktop and Ipad and have steadily worked my way through the kink meme. I don't even know where it's come from really, I watched both seasons of the Musketeers when they were broadcast, but it never caught me fannishly, but somehow now, it's all Musketeers and specifically Aramis all the time.
But hey, I'm not complaining, it was just what I needed lately. Though I'm not impressed to be back in a fandom where WIPs are common, especially as so often they don't get finished.
Mini nano is a bust. I got the first few days done, and then it was the funeral and nothing. I'm going to try and change that, I may not have written every day but I will get some words, and that has to count for something.
With Corey coming home last week we got to have a good talk. He's joined the rock society at uni and that's where he's making all his new friends. He also went to a toga party which amused me. I knew he'd been as I saw it on FB, but not that he'd actually worn a toga. Apparently bed sheet togas aren't very warm. Go figure.
I helped Pauline count the collection money from dad's funeral, and it came close to £500. She was a little disappointed but I think it's a respectful amount. Half is going to a local Parkinson's charity who're saving up to buy a mini bus and half to a local charity raising funds for pancreatic cancer.
And man, Milo just had a mad minute and sent a vase flying. Glass, water and flowers were everywhere. Damn cats!
Dad's ashes are also home. I've said before how he arranged and paid for his own funeral a while ago. The only thing he wanted changed was recently he'd decided he wanted my brother to scatter his ashes at the golf course where they went father-son golfing and not in the memorial garden as was originally stated. Pauline was a little worried that change couldn't happen, but it has. So Chris has my dad and will scatter him alone at a time he thinks is right.
Again, I want to thank everyone for their support lately. I was looking at my journal and saw it's been less than 2 months since dad was diagnosed with cancer. Even though he didn't pass with that, the time has been filled with worry and uncertainty, and seems to have gone by in a flash, especially as I was in hospital too. So just, thank you all who reached out.
To end on a good note. It's very likely my new nephew will be born today or tomorrow. That has to be something to smile about.
