turps: (Mikey/Frank (crazybutsound))
It's a bit wild and woolly out there today. James phoned when he got to work to say he'd nearly been taken out by a trampoline that had blown across the motorway. Thankfully it blew across without hitting anything, but that's not what you expect to see first thing in the morning.

We went swimming for the first time this year yesterday. Unfortunately we'd gone when the baby swimming classes were on, and forgot that they're always much better attended at the beginning of the year. I swam through two classes -- and James lounged in the spa through two classes -- and then got out when the third was about to begin. It was good to swim again, though. We're considering upping our membership to a full one so we can use the gym too. It's only a small one, and very quiet as long as you don't go at popular times. I just think I'm getting closer to being able to do more than swimming, not an all out assault on the machines, but recumbent bikes and some weights, maybe. I'm sure it'll take me a while to actually gather my confidence and go for it, but for an extra £10 a month for the two of us, it's worth thinking about.

I had a wardrobe malfunction leaving the house. I'd decided to go to the pool wearing my costume with my dress and trousers over the top. And found out that if you add trousers that are a bit big anyway, to a costume that pulls you in a bit more, your trousers will slide down your hips as you walk. Thankfully I was wearing a dress and didn't expose myself to the neighbours.

Day 11
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm not going to spotlight any individual, because that would take me forever. I just want to say thank you to everyone that keeps writing, who keeps creating, who keeps me entertained with words, graphics, and so much amazing, creative stuff that they share freely. You're all amazing ♥

Day 10

In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (More than one is okay, too.) Tell us about it, tell us why you love it, give us some examples and recs. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm sure you all know my favourite thing is h/c, but I'm not going to talk about that. Or AUs, which I'm sure I talked about last year. In fact I read and enjoy loads of things, but can't think of which one to expand on at the moment. I may come back to this. Or maybe just leave it at, threesomes are awesome. More threesomes always!

DAY 9:

Send feedback to two fannish people — they can be anyone you want: a writer who’s made you happy, a moderator of your favorite exchange (not us!), a fanartist you avidly follow… There are so many possibilities. Just let someone know you appreciate their work.

I was going to call this done as one thing I've done for a very long time is leave a comment to works I've enjoyed. It just feels the right thing to do when I love getting comments so much myself. But, I thought of something I want to add that relates to mods.

So often I see complaints about fandoms being quiet, but really, they can only be quiet if no one says anything, so I want to give praise to some people who keep talking and keep challenges running in smaller fandoms.

Thank you [personal profile] pensnest and [personal profile] nopsued. They've kept the popslash Christmas exchange running for a really long time now, and do a great job. And they also keep Camp Sparkle running, which is an amazing gathering full of brilliant people. Sadly I've only been briefly in the last few years, but take my word, Camp Sparkle is run as well as any huge con.

Thank you [personal profile] akamine_chan and [personal profile] glitteryv for running bandom big bang and other challenges. I see their names all over, and appreciate their work so much. And all of their helpers, too ♥

And a thank you to all the other mods who give their time and effort to keep challenges and communities going, whether big or small.

We're getting the new lino put down in the bathroom on Friday, so I need to go paint the doorway before that. Which I'll do soon. I really will. I just need to prise myself off this chair first.

ETA: I know I have other rarepair Mikey/Ryan fans on my flist. [personal profile] egelantier wrote me a beautiful drabble for the snowflake challenge, and it's right here
