More hail today. Of course, once I brought in the washing from the line, and then shoved the lot in the tumbler, it stopped and got sunny again. Stupid weather.
However, I've been happily reading A Fair Return which is a Patrick centric Schitt's Creek fic and so good and engaging. I suspect it may be one of those stories already well known if you read in the fandom, but I've had it tabbed for a while waiting until I had time to sink into it, and yeah. So great. It's over 237k long and I'm only on chapter 2 so I know I have a lot of excellent reading in front of me.
Voting went well yesterday. Apart from the officials, I was the only one in the ballot station at first, then a man followed me in and announced he was one of the candidates. So I quickly made for the booth before he saw me in case he was thinking of some last-minute campaigning. The whole place was set out well for social distancing, complete with arrows going around the hall. But, to actually post your ballot you had to leave the arrow trail and go back to where you'd first checked in. I don't know if someone didn't turn up, but if not, it was a bit of a fail route wise.
Corey phoned in the evening. He was telling me that people are still booking outside tables at his bar until 2 am, which heaters or not, has to be cold. He's been working loads, but as a bonus, got nearly £100 in tips. Tipping isn't really a thing where he works but I guess right now people are so happy to be out that they're tipping the people on table service. He was saying how all tips are pooled and then, once a week, are divided out between the staff who have been working, which seems fair enough.
I trimmed my hair today using the unicorn method, where you pull your hair into a ponytail secured to your forehead and then cut the ends. I was half expecting someone to knock when I did so, but they didn't, and it doesn't look as straggly now.
ETA: Re.F.Use, the place which does the food which would otherwise be thrown away is about to restart their restaurant nights. They get a visiting chef who does a themed meal using only food that was due to be binned and it all sounds great. At £17:50 a head it's a touch more than I'd usually spend to eat out, but still good value for a three-course meal plus soft drinks, plus, the themed nights start in the middle of May through June.
James has his main annual leave the beginning of June as usually, we'd go away for our wedding anniversary, but I'm thinking as that won't happen again this year, a meal out would be nice. As of now, the themes are West African/Southern American soul food, French, Middle Eastern, Indian, Italian, Scandinavian. I think the only one I'm ruling out so far is Italian as we have some good Italian restaurants in the area anyway. But other than that, I'm torn and I'm sure they'll add more.
