Yesterday, I got my first book from the Mail Survey place. I was expecting them to be sending out second-hand small fiction paperbacks, but I got a big second-hand book about Historic Houses and Gardens in the UK. I'm going to give it a quick glance but I suspect it'll be going to the tip recycling shop next time I'm there.

Yesterday we took my MiL out for an early Mother's Day meal and day out. We picked her up not long after nine as James needed to be nip to the doctor's first thing, then went for a drive up to the moors. My MiL needed the toilet at one point and we stopped in a place that turned out to be a collection of craft shops and a cafe set in some lovely gardens. Of course, James was in his element, especially in the cooperative Craft Shop. It was a lovely place where the crafters pay to rent a section of the shop and then have to man the tills twice a month, but keep 100% of the money when their goods get sold. I suspect if it was a bit closer he'd be joining up, but as it is, it's just too far to go to regularly.

We came out of there with a wooden apple complete with a mouse, another mouse and a mug my MiL liked the look of, and which we bought as her Mother's Day gift.

From there we drove over the moors and then looped back to Durham and had a late lunch at The Food Pit, which is next door to the Odeon we usually go to. We've taken my MiL there often and she likes to get a cocktail on special occasions, so I had a strawberry daiquiri with her.

I enjoyed The Lion King so much on Thursday. Because James did get out of work early we went out to eat beforehand, but as it was such a last-minute decision all the good places were booked up. The place we could get a table was nice enough and was really close to the theatre, but it certainly wasn't the best place we've eaten.

As for the show itself, it was so good! ExpandCut for more )
