Date: 2005-12-20 01:23 pm (UTC)I am also late. Just like that funny white rabbit in that Alice story. I've got some nicely wrapped presents here that I just need to get posted. I'm hoping you're filled with enough holiday cheer to forgive me. (note to self: include bottle of holiday cheer so as to help along the forgiveness thing)
I wanted to let you know that I had no forgotten you, you had not been dumped and that I really do have gifts! What I don't have is a post office in my loving room. (note to self: invent home postal system. Also? Make it cheap!)
In the meantime a small offering to
bribe you into complacencytide you over:Chris couldn't stand Christmas without loads of decorations and family and noise. But European hotels, especially cheap ones, didn't have a lot of glitz and they certainly didn't house any of his family. So, Chris was very surprised to returnn from his trip to the marketplatz to find his tiny room blinking and flashing and generally looking like a small explosion at a tree light factory.
"What the?" He asked out loud.
"Here. Your mom can explain it." JC, who had appeared out of nowhere, which was really just his own cramped room accross the hall, handed Chris his cell phone.
Chris took the phone from him and put it to his ear. "Mom?" His voice was a bit unstable and his eyes watered up when he heard his sisters alll yelling to him in the background. JC smiled and whispered 'Merry Christmas' in his ear before easing back to his own room. Chris stuck out his hand and grabbed fast to JC.
"Mom, Can you guys sing the song?" Chris pulled JC into his embrace and propped the phone so they both could here. "Thank you," he said to JC, kissing him on the cheek as Bev and the girls sang a very offkey raucus rendition of 'Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer'.
JC laughed along with Chris, patches of crazy colours blinking against their faces.

And honestly, I don't mind at all that your gifts will be late. Don't worry about it at all. Just knowing you've actually gone and got something and wrapped it up makes me happy. So, don't sweat it. Send it when you can, I'm not going anywhere :)
