In regards to this post about a pop newsletter, as people seemed to like the idea, I've set up a comm. [livejournal.com profile] pop_newsletter.

I'd love if people could go over and have a look around. Maybe answer some questions and brain storm with me.

Just excuse the layout for now. I need to buy a paid account so it looks pretty with no ads.

You've seen my layout, yes? It's Smooth Sailing, customized with CSS. And you can do it for a free account (I'm thinking about redoing it for my pixee acct). If you have a place to host the CSS sheet....

Which one? ;)

No, I have seen it, and it would work nicely. The scrolling bar especially.

I could host the CSS sheet on my site, though you'd have to talk me through that. I've used component so long I don't think I know how to work with anything else.

I love this layout. It was easy to use and customize and it's easy on the eyes. There's some buttons to be hosted (I have them at photobucket) and a banner, but the rest is a teensy CSS sheet. If we had someone that could do the banner *cough* Turlough *cough*, I could customize the sheet for you and send you the CSS sheet. Then it's just a matter of you loading it and putting the link for it in.

Excellent! Thank you.

Do you know what size the banner needs to be? It was suggested a contest could be run to create the comm header and I think that could be a cool idea, and a way for the various members that have offered to be involved. Plus, we could rotate at times.

You don't have to host the custom CSS anywhere now, you just paste it into the "Custom CSS" box on this page: http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml#pgroupcustomcss
and remember to put the relevant drop-down menues to "No".

That's a thought, too, I was just trying to make it easier for her. ;-)

But it's to easier to copy-and-paste than it is to find a site that allows you to upload and hotlink a css file :-)

I'm willing to help out in any way I can! :D I'm unfortunately unfamiliar with the BSB fandom but I can certainly help with NSYNC as much as possible. I was gonna offer layout help too..but looks like DEN has got you covered, and she's awesome! :D

I can make icons or whatever though. Are we going to be posting media..or just what media is out there?

You are more than welcome to shoot any questions my way!

Thanks, Tara!

I'd love icons is you're able to do them. I know you're in pain and I'd hate to add to that.

Are we going to be posting media..or just what media is out there?

It's more the newsletter will link to anything people post. Obviously I won't do so if the entry is flocked, but if someone posts media unlocked, I'll link so people can see it's available.

It's just, people share so willingly but that doesn't help if you don't know they're sharing. So hopefully this will help.

Icons won't be that bad. I already have some Nsync crops (pictures down to 100x100 size) so I just have to add borders or effects and small text which isn't too hard, just a few clicks.

Ah..ok. I don't know how many will have unlocked media (due to either bandwidth or legal issues) but if there are that do..that's great.

It certainly can help with finding out what's out there.

Yeah, it is a problem finding unlocked media, but I know how frustrating it is when you follow a link and the entry is flocked. I wonder if there's any way around that? Because the media is such a big part of this fandom. I might have to ask at the comm if people want to know there's media being offered, but they need to be a fried of that person.

Something to consider anyway.

That's kinda why I thought maybe post it in the community. Because it can be friends locked that way and also if someone wanted to they could use those free upload sites instead. I would be willing to repost FL media to somewhere easy like sendspace and I'm sure others would do the same. I don't know..something to consider. I know some might be reluctant to just add alot of friends etc, depending on what thier journal contains. The only other suggestion is to make a seperate media journal. *shrugs*

I'm using Tranquility II for [livejournal.com profile] juc_day and it's really flexible and easy to use. And you can do it for a free account. :)

That really is pretty. After talking to various people I've decided a simple layout will be best, with a kick ass banner on top :)

There is unlocked media, but I don't know if it's really good manners to link to that. Especially because I hope the community will eventually have lots and lots of members. And for example [livejournal.com profile] erilyn says: Don't link to my journal in communities/messageboards/forums/other sites, so.

I, on the other hand don't mind people linking to media I post because it's on free servers. So maybe somebody could just reupload stuff to free sites? (Not YSI since they have a 25 download limit.) The problem is that sometimes those don't work for people.

Media is something I've been thinking about a lot today. I agree, it's not good to link to downloads unless specificly allowed to do so.

A couple of people have agreed to re upload to the free servers, and there's nothing stopping me doing the same. I may have to add in a section in the info panel that all media will be linked to only if it's on a free site, or expression permission has been given to link to a download from someone's site.

Media sharing is an important part of this fandom, but at the same time, bandwidth is always a problem.

Ok, I'm asking this here, in case it's a really dumb question, then only friends can make fun of me :P

So for [livejournal.com profile] pop_newsletter, is there, or can there be a Hanson pop sleuth or newsfinder or whatever you called it? (LoL that I can't remember the name) Because I could recruite a bunch of Hanson fans and totally make them *nsync lovers at the same time and if you don't have a Hanson pop sleuth, I'll volunteer. But if you think they're no longer pop enough, I'd totally understand. I just thought I'd ask. :) You know I still love the sparkly boys of bsb and *nsync but lately I've been into 'sleuthing' for Hanson news so...yeah. Just thought I'd ask.

It's not a dumb question at all. Other people have mentioned other groups so you mentioning Hanson isn't a problem.

If you want to be a popscout you've totally got the job. I know nothing about Hanson now, but if there's news to pass along I'll gladly do so.

Thanks for volunteering.

PopScout! Oh, see? I was close. I had the 's' lmao.

Okay, so now that I'm popscout I'll go recruite Hanson members :D :D ♥

Thank you! :D ♥
