Feb. 9th, 2007 02:37 pmMy dad just visited to drop off Corey's birthday card. Neighbours was on the tv, and a scene came on where a girl was taking off a guy's shirt. Dad told me that I shouldn't be watching things like that. All I could think was, if only you knew.
And laughing at this helps distract me from the anger that his speech is terrible at the moment and apparently the Parkinson's group he's been waiting to hear from before Christmas has been cancelled and no one thought to tell him until he asked why his place hadn't be assigned yet.
Other stuff now.
For a while
ephemera_pop has been suggesting a website that shows what the members of Nsync looked like on specific dates. Eg. In March of 1999 Chris looked like this. *shows picture of Chris*
I think that's a cool idea, and I've decided to run with it. But, we're talking around 10 years, 12 months each , 5 guys, and that's a lot of pictures. So, any volunteers to help? What I'd need is for you to take a year and a guy, and send me clear pictures from each month of that year.
For example. Justin in 2003. You'd go off and research, then send me the pics. I'd upload them to the webpage, and hopefully it'll help someone who one day needs to know what hairstyle Justin had in March 2003.
Does that make sense?
ETA: Down and dirty example here

Date: 2007-02-09 03:10 pm (UTC)I was so mad when he told me about his group. Listening to him talk is frustrating, I can't even imagine what it must be like for him.

Date: 2007-02-09 03:39 pm (UTC)And if you could take Joey that would be fabulous. I've just thrown up a down and dirty page at my site, messing around with layouts etc. So it should be a go.

Date: 2007-02-09 03:12 pm (UTC)Lol That's so sweet! Bless :-)
My father's reaction would have been 'so what dirty thing are you watching now?' Because apparently it's a well known fact in the family that I like dirty and kinky things. Go figure *g*
Man, this sucks! How come no-one fucking thought of telling him? Hope he'll find another group soon *hugs*

Date: 2007-02-09 04:59 pm (UTC)I wonder why? *g*
I think my dad's hair would turn grey if he knew what I get up to online. He's very much of the opinion that I'm still a kid, one that's never heard of sex even.
It just pisses me off you know? He was so hopeful that the therapy would help, and he's been waiting since before Christmas. The least they could have done is tell him the group had been cancelled. *hugs back* Thanks, sis.

Date: 2007-02-09 04:33 pm (UTC)That's an amazing, ambitious project! I think I'd like to help out; I'd certainly love to pimp this in my LJ. Is that kosher?

Date: 2007-02-09 05:01 pm (UTC)If you could help that would be great, but man, a pimp would be fantastic. A project of this size needs to be comprehensive to be fully useful, and faced with work like that, I'll take any help I can get. I'm lazy like that *g*

Date: 2007-02-09 04:45 pm (UTC)People seem to be really good at ignoring the needs of the elderly disabled. I grumble, because I'm not impressed with the nurses who're 'looking after' my father. :-(

Date: 2007-02-09 05:04 pm (UTC)I thought so when A first mentioned it. Now it's a case of getting it off the ground.
You'd think in this age we'd have a medical system that actually cared for people. And we just don't. There's a lot of great doctors/nurses etc out there, but they're balanced by the ones that don't give a damn. It would have taken one call to tell dad that the group had been cancelled. Instead he had to go find out himself. And now he's left waiting, hoping someone else can help him. So bloody annoying.

Date: 2007-02-09 05:06 pm (UTC)Thanks so much for volunteering. I think what I'll do is just add the months people are sure about at first, then we can take it from there.

Date: 2007-02-09 06:21 pm (UTC)I'll manage to rustle up the volunteers somehow I'm sure. Just keep harassing people enough and they'll give in *g*

Date: 2007-02-09 06:23 pm (UTC)This idea of yours sounds fabulous, and I agree with JM and others that a BSB site would also be needed, but I think you/we should concentrate on doing one thing at a time. It's better to get one site actually finished than to have two perpetually unfinished ones. I'm of course prepared to help out with Lance, which should come as no suprise :-)

Date: 2007-02-09 06:35 pm (UTC)You and me both. Dad spent his whole life working hard, saving people from fires, and now he's older he's left to pretty much physically break down without any help. Seeing him struggle for words is heart-breaking.
You're right, it's a much better idea to do one group at a time. It's going to be a big job, and doing too much at once means there's more chance of it failing.
Help with Lance pics would be fantastic. I'm thinking we can get all the month/years we know for certain filled in first, then go from there for the rest.

Date: 2007-02-10 08:49 am (UTC)It really does, because he wasn't joking. I'm just glad he has no computer skills at all, because man...
Parkinson's is a horrible thing. Watching him go downhill and not be able to do anything is frustrating. *hugs back*
