turpsI woke up to the smell of burning yesterday morning. After a futile search around the house sniffing sockets and the boiler, and a moment my heart stopped when James said he saw smoke, we decided it must be coming from outside. Later I found out that the quarry at the top of my estate was on fire. It still is actually. The quarry is used as a landfill site now, and all you can see is grey smoke and the smell is horrendous. Burning plastic and rubbish and despite all the windows being shut it's seeping into everything. I had a headache all day and I'm sure it was because of that. Thankfully it's not as bad as yesterday, so fingers crossed things are under control now.
I have much glee that Chris was at Justin's concert. Really, I have much pop glee about everything right now. You could mention anything sparkly related and I'd be, OMG YAY! But yes, Justin and Chris. In my world they've always been friends and this just adds evidence to that. I love my world. It's happy and shiny and yay. Well, until I write about them when things go angsty and not yay. I should write something now really, the yay could bleed into it. Happy fic from me, surely not.
Also, this picture makes my heart ache. I love him so. How could anyone boo them?
The crack from last weekend has put me in the mood to tackle the wtf stories again. Thing is, I'm stuck half way through a tentacles story. But it's mpreg next and I have the whole story planned. I know everything that's going to happen, how and why and to who. I want to write it! But those bloody tentacles need taking care of first.
You know, someone needs to organise another happy fic challenge. I'd join it in an instant right now.

ETA: I need an intervention. I've just been researching pairing days etc and pondering another happyfic challenge in the summer. But think about it. Sun, unless you're on the other side of teh world, where cold, but cold is happy too! Then snuggling and fires and happy! Or warmth and laughing in the golden sunshine and happy!. Nsync and Backstreet. Any pairing. Someone needs to end this insanity.

Date: 2007-03-21 12:06 pm (UTC)I've always believed that Justin and Chris have been friends. Sure, things got strained, but that happens to everyone. It's a special friendship indeed where you never argue or have times where things feel wrong. I also know they're not best friends anymore, but really, they don't have to be. That bond is still there and I very much doubt that will ever sever.
Yeah, Chris was hurt. Just from the little we could see that was obvious, and Bev didn't help. But there's two sides to every story. I read why some people aren't keen on Justin, to them he split Nsync, but I don't understand that, and think it's very narrow reasoning that doesn't take into account there's five strong willed men in the equation and Justin isn't some evil creature who wants to crush them all.
Chris went to see Justin when he was recording Justified, he was talking to Justin really closely at the last Challenge, he went to see him last week, and that's just what we know about. Hardly the actions of someone who doesn't want anything to do with Justin.
Personally I think some fans need to see the whole picture. Yes, it sucks they're not together. But what's Justin supposed to do? Stop being so famous, not record so he doesn't over shadow the others?
It's just insane and I'll never under stand those that bash him. Dislike his music, sure. Think he's got bad points, well everyone does. Bash him to all hell and think he's some kind of boyband spirit crushing master of evil. That's not the Justin I see.
I'll always hold onto the belief that Justin and Chris are friends. I know some people think I'm looking at things through rose tinted glasses but I don't care.
And man, sorry about venting away at you. Some of this I've kept in for ages.

Yep, you've summed up what I took paragraphs to ramble about.
I know you don't like Justin, but there's a difference between not liking him and the insane bashing I see in some places. I swear, you'd think he goes around clubbing baby seals and eating their flesh the way some people go on.
Besides, if the guys (particularly Chris) can clearly forgive him, then why can't the fans?
I think that fans can get too invested at times. Believe me, I understand why. I've found myself on the verge of a series argument before, when someone said something negative about Chris, but you have to keep some distance.
Nsync is an amazing group, and I'm still holding onto that hope that one day they'll sing together again. Also, to me Nsync is about friendship, about five men who grew up and loved one another. Justin was very much a part of that love and friendship. The person who gets bitterness spat his way is the same guy who worshipped Chris back in the day, who laughed with Lance, hugged JC, was hauled around by Joey.
I understand why people are upset they're not together. But blaming Justin for that is wrong. He was a part of the process of breaking up, but not all.

I just don't understand some of the hatred thrown Justin's way. Like I said before, not liking his music, or having issues with specific things he's done, I can get that. But hating him just because he's Justin. I'll never understand.

I think a happyfic challenge would be a great idea. In fact, I was vaguely thinking how cool it would be to have a happyfic poly challenge -- threesomes, foursomes, GSF, crossovers, including wives and girlfriends if desired. Bascially a 'write the kinds of stories that I like' challenge. :-)

Well, I may have been emailing Vaudevilles about this, and I may have suggested that it be a happyfic challenge where people write happy and are happy with what they're writing, which could be anything from solo to GSF with every combination inbetween. Wives, girlfriends, heck, any crossover as long as the sparkly boys are there too.
Which means, yes I'm running with it. It's just a case of deciding on prompts now.

How about, instead of picture or lyric prompts, getting people to put in actual requests? Everyone could put in a few (3, 4, 5?) different requests when they sign up, with more or less detail as they prefer (I guess that less detail would be more likely to get the request picked), and then when sign-ups finish people could choose a request they want to write from the final pool. You could even let non-writers put in requests, to increase the pool size. The only rule would be that the requests have to be for happy stories.
It would be a bit like DWNOGA/Yuletide, except they people would be able to choose a request that didn't scare them :-)
