May. 13th, 2007 09:06 pmThank you so much to
withdiamonds and
zacherysboxers for the virtual gifts. They were such a lovely surprise. *sends love*
I hope all the moms out there are having a wonderful day, because you all deserve it.
It was the last rugby match of the season today. A friendly game that had been arranged at the last minute which is why they played on the main pitch, and for the first time I could actually sit and watch them play. After rugby it was onto a grocery shop, then to the cinema to see Next. From there to the MiLs, then to my mam's, then back home where I cooked Sunday dinner and washed Corey's uniform. A good day I feel.
I've been reading various Asylum con reports, and I have to ask. Why would anyone think it's a good idea to ask about fanfic in a question and answer session? Or tell Jensen that there needs to be a Sam/Dean hug. Some people are just stupid, and they need to realise that some things need to stay within the fannish community. I've enjoyed the actor cons I've attended, but cringe each time at the fan question time, because there's always someone who doesn't know how to behave.
Moving on, I'll tell you all how lame I am. Last week
musiclover03 offered WAVs of the clips from the Nsync dreamphone game. Then a few days ago
_bettina_ linked to a nifty firefox add on for LJ. It tells you birthdays etc, but what's important for this story is it also announces when your flist has updated, audibly, and you can use your own sounds. Can you see where this is going? I now have Chris saying You're awesome, and don't forget I said so each time someone posts. Yes, I am that lame. *g*

Date: 2007-05-13 08:11 pm (UTC)And I would do just about anything for a sound clip of Keanu Reeves saying "Fuck. Me." from that one scene in Speed, but I've searched all the movie clip sites I can find, and that bit's just not out there. Not that I would use it for a phone ringtone (though I would be tempted, but the niece and nephew, no, I can't), but it would make a great error sound, or calendar appointment sound.
And I'm not discussing Asylum, because I'm still too traumatized by the whackjob who jumped Jensen. Not as traumatized as Jensen, I'm sure, but still. OMFG

Date: 2007-05-13 08:27 pm (UTC)That would make a fantastic error sound. It's a shame you can't find the clip.
Some people are stupid, sadly that's what it comes down to.

Date: 2007-05-13 09:07 pm (UTC)*sigh* It's like what I tell my cat, over and over: Not everything is for you. Except even my cat sort of gets it, whereas I swear there are people who never do. Not everything is for you. It's just not that hard.

Date: 2007-05-13 09:23 pm (UTC)Just a tad. It's quite embarrassing, really.
And sounds like the same speech I have to give the dogs. :D

Date: 2007-05-13 08:58 pm (UTC)and that sounds so far away from lame I'm considering something like it myself
And THANK YOU! for the virtual mother's day card - it's made my morning so far - especially opening it with the boyo on my lap asleep!

Date: 2007-05-14 11:13 am (UTC)Exactly! Fandom is an awesome place but some people just don't get that some things need to stay within certain circles.
Dude! Go for it! It's a big old ego boost *g* </small? You're so very welcome *smooch*

Date: 2007-05-13 09:39 pm (UTC)As far as I'm concerned: Fandom's like fight club. What's the first two rules of fight club? YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB. *headdesk*
happy mother's day, sweetie

Date: 2007-05-13 11:43 pm (UTC)That doesn't sound lame at all. I don't even use Firefox, but I'm tempted to start just so I can have Chris talk to me. :D

Date: 2007-05-14 11:19 am (UTC)It was actually our mothers day back in March, but you know, it's still a day for moms, so I decided to celebrate it too *g*
Chris talking to me is awesome! I'm awesome, he tells me so ;)

Date: 2007-05-14 12:52 pm (UTC)Your announcement sound makes me giggle! At the moment I have a simple harrumph as my general warning sound but sometimes I use a Dalek saying Emergency!. And my new-email-sound is the Cloister Bell from the late seasons of the Fourth Doctor. So you're definitely not alone in using creative sounds on your computer :-)

Date: 2007-05-14 07:02 pm (UTC)A Dalek sounds like a wonderful thing to use! I love having Chris talk to me, but have to admit, when I'm alone and he suddenly talks I often jump *g*

Sorry, I'm late, I didn't get to do much yesterday ;___; but happy belated Mother's Day! Check this (http://runzu.livejournal.com/74756.html) out. :)
