I had a scare earlier when poor Silver broke on me. First I lost internet, then when I rebooted the screen would go to the first checking windows bit, then nothing. Just a blank screen. Three hours later James managed to get it working so I can surf in some kind of mode that means rebooting is a very bad idea, and poor Silver is going in for a check in the morning. Hopefully it'll be something minor, but still, I don't like him being away.

I've lost all my tabs as session saver died on me too. Which sucks, because I had a lot of them open. But, losing them is a small thing when it could have been losing access all together. Especially as I need to go do modly duty at [livejournal.com profile] sentinel_thurs. It's the 200th challenge today, which is just wow.

Gah, my next door neighbour is burning wood panelling again. He warned us he was doing it yesterday, but didn't tonight so the house is full of smoke through the open windows. While listening to the crackles and seeing the smoke wisp through the falling rain is nice, the smell isn't at all.

James was watching some 100 most embarrassing celeb moments yesterday, and Lance was one of the moments. And you know, I just don't get it. When did reaching for your dreams become embarrassing? Sure, he didn't get into space, but he worked hard and got damn close. How can that be embarrassing?

Being offline tonight did mean I watched a lot of shows on my Sky plus. I've been recording Brothers and Sisters, and really liking it so far. Which reminds me of something I keep meaning to ask. I love CSI LV, and have just got into CSI New York. I'm watching season 3 of that right now and am thinking of downloading the other seasons, but I've never been able to get into CSI Miami. I've seen maybe a handful of episodes and I know a lot of you watch the show. So, am I missing something? Should I give it another chance?

CSI Miami takes getting used to, I'll admit it. Mostly because of Horatio/ David Caruso. He has very ODD mannerisms, but I do like the character himself and the people Horatio works with. THEY make up for it and then some. I dunno. I think Miami is probably my favorite and Vegas is a close second. I'm just the opposite. I'm trying to get into NY still. ;-)

So yeah. Give Miami a chance. ;-)

That's it exactly! The few times I've watched I keep wondering why the heck he has to repeat what he says. Constantly. I mean, he'd communicate so much faster saying it once.

It took me a while to warm up to New York, but now I'm nearly as happy watching that as Vegas. I guess it means I should give Miami another chance.

Once you get past his mannerisms, the show is great. You almost get so you can tune them out. ;-) But like I said, I like the other characters that are on Miami, too. :D

Obviously I need more practice tuning them out. The show's on almost every day here. I think I'll give it another shot, check out these other characters you like so much :)

You'll get better, I promise. ;-)

Eric Delko is one of them. Nice looking Hispanic boy. YUM. The other one is Ryan Wolfe. Um, yes. Also yum. :D

Miami is possibly my favorite of the three at the moment. What you're missing is a proper appreciation for Horatio Caine. Ahahahahaha. No, really. Sure, the character is slightly ridiculous, but that's what makes him so awesome! I mean, who else can drive a car with a bomb in it out of Miami in less than four minutes, adjust their sunglasses and walk out of the car with no rush, and then say "Burn, baby, burn" as the car explodes behind him? NOBODY ELSE, that's who. [giggle]

I suspect you're right. He's just such a shock when you first watch, and I have to admit his speech patterns annoy me. Maybe if I just keep watching and develop an appreciation that annoyance will fade away. I'd like to think so as on paper he sounds like a cool guy. Just actually hearing him is a problem right now *g*

That's exactly what happened to a friend of mine earlier tonight o.O Huh.

It's scary when it happens. I'm almost afraid to stop surfing in case I come back and it's gone wrong again.

Computer problems suck!

Ack! Good luck with Silver. *sends good computer mojo*

And yes, I don't get it either--the whole space thing is a big part of the reason I admire Lance, as opposed to just thinking he's pretty. People suck.

And yes, Horatio takes some getting used to, but I love most of the rest of the cast--Delko, and Ryan, and Calleigh. I 'specially love Calleigh.

Though honestly, right now, I'm way more into NCIS than any of the CSIs. Mmmmmm, Gibbs. Mmmmm, Abby. *hearts them all, even the annoying skinny coroner's assistant*

Thankfully Silver seems to have rallied.

I admire Lance for the space thing too, yet some people seem to think it's a big failure on his part. Which I don't get at all.

I lot of people say Miami is worth watching. A new season starts here next week so I've set it to record. I'll give them a fair go.

I've also started watching NCIS. One episode so far *g* It looks promising, and I'll keep watching. Even if that's just to know what Sperrywink is talking about when she writes her Criminal Minds crossovers.

I don't get the whole Lance going to space is a big, funny joke thing, either. And as I've said many times, HE didn't fail, his financial backers failed to figure out how to deal with the Russians. Lance did his part, and he did it damn well.

I will always prefer CSI LV, but Miami is my #2. Give Horatio a chance, he'll grow on you. NY is last on my list because Stella annoys the shit out of me, way more than Horatio does.

Lance totally didn't fail. He gave it his all and was well on his way of achieving his dream. How that's embarrassing I'll never know.

I've set CSI Miami to record as a new season starts next week. A lot of people seem to love it, so I'll try again.

I'm with you on the Lance thing. I just don't get it, especially because he's done so many things that really are embarrassing. Remember when he was so enthralled by the giant pink dildo that he knocked over an entire display? Actually qualifying to go into space, on the other hand? Not so much cause for embarrassment. Dummies.

I do remember the giant pink dildo! That is embarrassing, but you're right. Not getting into space isn't at all. Some people are just insane.

I do agree with you on Lance; he does not belong on the list for that. Maybe for his nose job, though. ;-รพ (yes, I'm still in denial on that!)

I've never been able to get into CSI Miami. I've seen maybe a handful of episodes and I know a lot of you watch the show. So, am I missing something?
The short answer is no. CSI: Caruso isn't called that for no reason. There are, however, some good owie moments, especially one for Ryan Wolfe, but I only watch those eps and happily ignore the other crap....

Hmmmm, oowies. That could persuade me to watch.

Ack! Poor Silver, I hope you'll soon have him back in working order again!

So for a guy who never even went to college becoming a certified cosmonaut and only failing to get to space because his financial backers let him down is an EMBARRASSMENT?!?! I seriously don't understand how people think!!!

Silver seems to be hanging in there, thank goodness.

I seriously don't understand how people think!!!

I don't either. It makes me angry because he did so well, and yet because he failed at the end, through no fault of his own, they say he's an embarrassment. Well that's rubbish!
