Poll time!

A few days ago I asked for the worst pairing names people knew. I was given some horrible examples, but of course there has to be a winner of most horrific smushed up name. Therefore, poll time!

This is a poll only about the actual pairing name, who that pairing contains doesn't come into it. I've included all the examples I was given, a truly horrific list taken from various fandoms. Plus some questions brought up in comments of the post.

[Poll #1071614]

Pronounce Bassez?!? I can't even spell it!!!

Smushed pairing names are an abomination!!! Kill them all!!!!

Uhm, I might feel a bit strongly about this :-)

And Trickyfish isn't a smushed name! A smushed pairing name for Chris/Lance would be something like Chrance or Lis, or Kirkbass or Basspatrick.

I'm trying to think of the other Chris/Lance name, which is one I dislike. Obviously I've blocked it from my mind.

You know which one I hate in popslash? Trickykitten. It's not a smushed name, but I hate it anyway. Kitten. GAH!

Is it FuLa? Because I hate that too (and for a long time I couldn't figure out what it was based on) but luckily enough you never see it these days.

Trickykitten is silly! Not to mention relying far too much on fanon interpretations to be even understandable.

OMG! Yes! It is FuLa! And now I've been reminded of it.

Also. YES! Not to mention relying far too much on fanon interpretations to be even understandable.

My dislike of the kitten thing is huge, and that name just plays into that. I have fists of fury when I see it!!!!

You know, this is why I never really get why people say that I'm nice. I'm not nice! I'm bitchy and got a strong opinion about a lot of things! Of course, everything else I'm extremely laidback about so perhaps it evens out :-)

Well yes, you do have strong opinions, but you present how you feel in a grown up way. A lot of people don't.

You're not afraid to say what you mean. There's nothing wrong with that.

Okay, I caved and did a voice post (but I didn't call you Tony, I swear!).

These pairing names are all quite awful. The worst I've hear in a fandom that I'm in is "Padackles" for Jared/Jensen. I'm so glad that it seems largely abandoned in favor of j² (even if that's not mathematically correct).

I always thought Leichen was completely and utterly awful. :/ And man, the Backstreet ones are nothing to brag about either. The one I see the most is A-Rok, and it's awful. And then there's the really old school ones, like D-Train and SweetBone. I need eye bleach!

LASSIE. Worst pairing name ever, and I can't believe it took me this long to remember it.

Bahz-ay. You know, like it was French or something. Not that I have a clue about French pronunciation.

Also. Dude. I had never heard Spiles before, and can I just say I wish I had gone my merry, innocent way, all unknowing the horror I was missing? Because ack. And I actually like the pairing (Spike/Giles, I assume?). But. But. It's just so very... icky.

Spiles is just wrong. It sounds like a medical complaint, and that's never good.

Bassez--Sadly, I think JC gets the lions-share of the pronunciation in the mushing--I basically say it like Chasez, only with a B in the front. To the extent that I say it at all, which isn't much. *g*

And Spiles: Egggs-actly. And not a pretty medical complaint, either. *makes wrinkled-nose, scrinchy face, shudders*

I also pronounce it Frenchified, although with a softer s-sound. That way it's kind of like baisez, which means "kiss". awwww!

I'm thinking that I like KeviNick not so much because I am fond of it but because beyond calling it Kevin/Nick (not that there is anything wrong with that) I don't know what I'd call it. And where I know having a pairing name isn't necessary I just think it is so endearing to have them. I think it shows a bit more of an intimate connection with the pairing you like. Or I am just silly.

I also think TrickC and JuC are good ones. And one of my favorite pairing names is A-Rok, but that's not really squishing names together.

I chose the "Ju Cee" option for JC/Justin, but after hearing your phone post, I realize that's really not the way I say it. I definitely say it as "juicy," with no emphasis on the second syllable.

I find all these names hilarious. I actually saw one on a list when I first came into pop fandom that listed a possibility for JoLa as Fatass! I adore that. *g*
