Dec. 9th, 2007 07:03 pmI totally sound like one of those parents, but man, the opposition team were so annoying today. They soundly beat our team, but that doesn't give them to the right to say our team sucked and were crap while they were shaking hands at the end. Or to throw punches in the scrum.
Of the good though, the club had seats! Seats at pitch side! Seats at pitch side with cover over them! This was only the second time in the two seasons Corey's been playing that seats have been available. Which was fortunate as we took the MiL and FiL and neither of them are steady on their feet.
After that we went for a drive, ending up at the beach. It was raining and the waves were crashing against the sea wall, and we just sat and watched a while. Now I'm sitting getting some much needed online time before Top Gear later.
Tomorrow is James' hospital appointment to see the nerve doctor. Once we've been there we have to go straight to the school as Corey's involved in a rugby tournament. I tell you, time has been sucked away lately.
Okay, fannish now. If you know
mickeym you'll know Kim writes so wonderfully well. She posted a beautiful Trickc story, which you should all go and read, because it's gorgeous and beautiful and just, Chris and JC, and I love them, and Kim so much.

Date: 2007-12-09 07:08 pm (UTC)Thanks for the reminder. I would have been annoyed sitting at 8 and realising I had a whole hour to go.

Date: 2007-12-09 07:14 pm (UTC)Pssht. You are NOT one of those parents--parents who encourage their kids to throw punches are the ones that are "those parents." Heh. It's probably a good thing I'm not a parent, because just reading this makes me want to get up in those kids' parents' faces and let loose, and I haven't even met your boy. *g* I thought one of the purposes of kids' sports was to teach sportsmanship, but apparently that's old-fashioned.
I hope the doctor can fix James up! Is he feeling any better, or still in major pain?

Date: 2007-12-09 10:34 pm (UTC)James is on strong pain killers, so as long as he takes those on time he's okay. But if he's late you can totally tell. I really hope we get answers tomorrow.

Date: 2007-12-09 07:26 pm (UTC)It's sad when kid sports turns ugly. At that age, it should be all about good sportsmanship. Winning is important, yes, but not everything.
Needless to say, no one will ever hire me as a coach (which is probably good, since I would be, like, "throw the ball that way and hope for the best".)

I totally agree. I think at their age group, getting out, playing and having fun is more important that needing to win.
Your type of coaching sounds like what I'd do *g*

Date: 2007-12-09 10:25 pm (UTC)They really do. Our team isn't that good, in fact they haven't won once this season. But they play as best they can, and they go out and have fun. At their age I think that's the best thing to do.
I loved the story! You can feed parts like that forever and I'd be happy.
Thank you, beautiful.
How's things anyway? I've been so damn busy lately I haven't emailed forever.

It took me a while to work out why that didn't make sense *g*
