Dec. 17th, 2007 07:13 amJames didn't sleep at all well last night. Which meant I didn't get to sleep well either. Honestly, at the point he told me to be careful because the cat was lying between us, well I felt like kicking him out of bed, bad back or not. Eventually I just gave up and got up, more than an hour before I had to. I stumble downstairs, make coffee, and decide to catch up on some of my shows I'm behind on. Just as I was doing that, James comes downstairs. He looks at me all pitifully, wraps himself in a blanket, then goes to sleep on the couch, and hello. Why couldn't he do that a few hours ago? I know, I'm a horrible person, but I'm still tired. Oh well, at least I have a head start on my day.
The party went well yesterday, and I spent a good few hours just laughing. Me and some of the other mams and dads got a disgracefully low score on the quiz. They kept asking sports questions! Where were the crappy reality tv questions? That's what I wanted to know. There was great amusement when the boys split into teams, and had to actually hold hands, because they're typical pre teen boys, and they just don't hold hands. So there was much holding of coat sleeves and elbows going on, though at least they touched. Poor Sarah, the only girl on our team, no one would even touch her at all.
Then they all went to see Santa, with them all laughing, but the older ones were respectful of the mini players, and as a result the santa visit was a highlight for everyone.
Once we'd been there we headed to the beach to walk off some of the buffet food. James stayed in the car while Corey and I walked along the shore. It was so beautiful. It was cold, so only a few hardy people were out, and the waves looked grey and stormy. The fair was closed for the winter, the rides all covered and the whole place had that air of sleeping, waiting for the spring. The only bad thing was the wind had whipped up huge sand dunes and you had to climb over them to get off the beach. By the time I'd done that my leg muscles were aching like crazy.
After that it was off to the cinema to see MR MAGORIUM'S WONDER EMPORIUM , which we all liked a lot. I especially liked that we waited in the bar beforehand, and the pretty boy with the green hair was serving. His santa hat looked adorable with his lip rings and awesome hair. Though our pop was confiscated on the way in. We always take our own because the prices for food and drink are horrible, and they never have a problem with that, even when we blatantly walk in with our Asda carrier bag. Not yesterday though, we were denied!
Back to mam's next for a couple of hours. Then home for tea, uniforms, that kind of stuff before reading SeSa stories, and finally finishing the first draft of mine. It still needs a lot adding, but having the story done means I can polish and add now. Turn it into something readable.
That's for later though, for now a slice of toast is calling my name.

Date: 2007-12-17 09:49 am (UTC)The beach is beautiful in winter, so stark and wonderful. Though there were still insane surfers in the waves. Crazy people!

Date: 2007-12-18 07:04 pm (UTC)I jumped in a lake when it was 50 degrees once and never again! I can't imagine surfing in the middle of winter.

Date: 2007-12-20 09:09 pm (UTC)I think there is a Polar Bear Swim in Lake Superior somewhere, but I'm not sure. Still qualifies people as crazy.

Date: 2007-12-17 02:33 pm (UTC)I love the sea at any season but autumn and winter are always kind-of special, perhaps because I don't live that close and don't get many opportunities to see it at those seasons.
Pretty boy with green hair and lip ring in a Santa hat, mmmmmm...
