Brits on the list.

My MiL wants a hand held game for Christmas, not something expensive like a DS lite or gameboy, just a basic thing that you can play tetris or some kind of electronic puzzle on. Like this

Argos have been sold out of such things for weeks now, so does anyone have any idea of other shops that sell stuff like that? Because we've been looking and are hitting a blank.

I'm obviously not a Brit, but I'd suggest trying toy shops or even places like W.H.Smith that have bits and pieces along with the stationary stuff :)

You're a Brit in spirit though.

In the end we found one at Woolworths, so all is well.

Ah, of course! I always forget about your Woolworths, because it's just a supermarket here *g*

Is the MIL sure she wants one of those? Or one similar? I only ask because 2 years ago hubby thought I'd love something very similar because I love playing tetris and zuma and bejewelled! So, he bought me two - a card game one and a tetris similar one. I can tell you, I played them the very first day I had them, and from that point on, they sit on a shelf near my bookcase! Maybe I'm just a bad wife, but other than my computer games, having a hand held one just didn't do it for me! :( Sorry to be on the negative side of it, but thought I'd share.

Well, it's what you asked for, but at the same time, I see your point totally.

Our house is full of things that have been cast aside after a few days, but she doesn't have a computer ( shudders ) so hopefully she'll get a bit more use out of it.

You never know--I have a little five dollar hand held Yahtzee game that I've had for years, and I use it all the time, playing a couple games before I go to sleep at night... I'm glad you found it so quickly!

CD-Wow sell them but I believe the last guaranteed delivery for Christmas was yesterday. But it's worth taking a look.

ebay.co.uk had some listed, don't know how fast you can get it though. Um, do you have places like eletronic stores or our Target (department store)? In my experience those kind of games can be found at those... also drug stores sometimes have them (chemists?) over here.

Yeah, I think it would be pushing it getting stuff delivered on time now. But we do have big department stores, so if the Woolworths tip doesn't come off, I'll check those.

Thank you :)

You're a lifesaver. Thank you!

There's actually a Woolworths in the town where I live, so I'll be checking there today.

Second the Woolworths idea... saw some in there today. I've seen some similar things in John Lewis, Debenhams and, if you are feeling brave enough to battle through the queues, ToysRUs.

Happy hunting.

Woolies I can check easily. I have one a couple of minutes walk from where I live. If they haven't got them, I'll be brave and check ToysRUs.

Thank you!

Unrelated. What did you think of the Strictly result this week?

I was disappointed. I wanted Gethin to be in the final. I've liked Matt all the way through but him forgetting his steps the week before was not good. Gethin however has been improving week on week (and he looks mighty fine in the tight trousers!). Alesha deserves to be in the final though IMO and I hope that she wins.

What did you think?
