[livejournal.com profile] mtyg_discuss have an official Guess the writer post, which I think is a great idea. I always love seeing people guess at authors, so if you're reading the MTYG stories, which you should be!, get over there and have a guess.

Now, as I have nothing else to tell you, have the

Caught Between Trickyfish MTYG test fic

A Fishy Tale Brian/Dolphin MTYG test fic

Two Four Six Eight Nsync cheerleader fic

His Life Closed Twice Before Its Close BSB

Nsync in the SPN fandom

Goes Around/Comes Around Chris/Howie

Tentacles Nsync for WTF

Ease trickyfish

Circles Nsync

In a Roomful of People ( the times it by seven remix Trickyfish

Seven Plus One Equals None Nsync and BSB Snow white AU thing

Up Against the Wall Nsync GSF

Always Known trickyfish

favorite story this year (of my own): I know technically Always Known is a 2006 story, but I couldn't talk about it in this meme last year, as reveals hadn't happened. So, I'm adding it here. I love that story, a lot. I'd lost confidence that I could actually write plot, or anything even approaching long, then Always Known happened. When I re read I'm always impressed, and think, maybe I can actually write.

my best story this year: Best is so subjective, but as it's my opinion, and I've already said Always Known technically doesn't count, my remix story. Remix terrifies me, still does. But I really like what I ended up with, especially as it included sex which I hate to write.

most popular story this year, in my opinion: My shorter stuff tends to get more comments. Maybe people are telling me something *g* In terms of comments it was Nsync in the SPN fandom, and that was an off the cuff un beta read affair. But in terms of quality of comments and recs, Always Known.

most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: My remix, easily. The comments I got were wonderful, so don't get me wrong. I'm not sitting in a corner and damning the world for not seeing the brilliance of my fic. I just wish more people would realise that remix stories are stories in their own right. Not clones of the originals.

most fun story: Up Against the Wall. I loved thinking of my own video idea :D

sexiest story: None. Seriously. I love that some people think I can write things that are hot, but gah. Hate hate hate it.

single sexiest moment: I like kissing. I like hand holding. I like Lance backing Chris against a tree in my remix story.

"holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I haven't listed the lamp fics, so I guess it's A Fishy Tale, and the whole blowhole line. The thing is, I doubt I could post anything and people would think that's wrong, even for me. Which hello! Where did that reputation come from I ask?

story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: His Life Closed Twice Before Its Close. This is a pure BSB story, and I hadn't written one of those for years. I was so damn worried, but I'd signed up for the vid, and was determined to finish, so I ended up thinking of the characters a lot.

hardest story to write: It would actually be this years SeSa, which I obviously can't reveal. Not due to the story, just circumstances. Real Life was pretty screwy at the time, and I need total concentration to write, so having someone in the house wasn't good at all. Remix was hard too, getting past my insecurities that people would hate that I'd remixed their story, that I wasn't good enough to even try.

biggest disappointment: That I didn't get actual tentacle sex into the Tentacle fic! What?!

biggest surprise: The cheerleader fic. A prime example of comment fic growing out of control. I really need to get that edited properly so I can post it at my site.

most telling story: I really don't know. I don't think my stories tell anything really. Maybe that I'm a lame ass that likes people to be friends.

overall: I'm staggered that yet again I wrote so much trickyfish. I have no idea how that happens. They're not my OTP after all. I like what I wrote, but I really want to start to write longer, and not so much of the bitty things. There's a lot I haven't added in here, ficlets and stuff that I like to write just because. Some horrible, some okay.

upcoming/ fic i'm working on: I did a ficlet at fic_requests based on a hockey team, I'd love to expand that. I want to finish my wtf27 claims, poor boys have been stuck in mpreg hell for ages now. I'd love to write something that tops 30,000 words. Most of my stories are around 10,000 with a few going over 20,000. I need to move that next step up I think. Who knows what I'll write, I'm sure this time last year I didn't think Brian/Dolphin would be on this list *g*

I like Lance backing Chris against a tree in my remix story. - I liked that too. It's weird how little fb the remix stories get - there are some real gems in there.

There really are. But it seems it's a problem that's gone on for years now, and I have no idea how to change things.

It's particularly odd because remix is, like, ultimate fanfic. Doing what we do, squared.

I suppose, though, if you haven't much time available, it might feel awkward to read the remix without re-reading the source story.

People have told me that they won't read remix because it means reading two stories. Which yeah, I can understand that, and I'm sure if you want the full remix experience it's best to do that. But I don't think you have to, because the stories do stand on their own.

But, I don't think people will change how they look at the challenge now, which is a shame.

Ah, remix. See now... there seem to be two camps there, those that love and those that don't. I'm going to straight out admit I do not even understand the desire to do it. Take a story and change the ending by rewriting, sure, but I was of the understanding you couldn't actually do that. Anyway.... I haven't even read any of the remixes. [yep, that'd be me. feet firmly in the second camp] and 'm willing to bet that's a huge reason for lack of feedback right there.

Now, if you decide to write Brian/Dolphin would you kindly warn me ahead of time so I can avoid it like the plague? lol.

Lastly, clearly the one thing you need to concentrate on for 2008 is the sequel to Boxes. BOXES!

Yeah, I remember going over this with you at the remix time, and I do understand those two camps, especially as before I joined myself I tended to not read remix either. Then I joined, and my own story is so much longer than the original, a whole fic containing just one scene of the original, and it feels a bit of an injustice that people would brush it off as a copy.

But, what can you do to get readers? Nothing, and it's not like I'm going to get all pouty and emo about that. I just express my woe in things like these *g*

Dude, the Brian/Dolphin has been done, and somehow I doubt I'll attempt that pairing again. I suspect I can't top what I had ;)

Yes, Boxes! It's coming along so slowly that I had shame to add it here.

I think the remix story is the one I like best of those you've written this year but it's a close call between it and Always Known. I also really like His Life Closed Twice Before Its Close and Seven Plus One Equals None. I mean, how couldn't I not like them? They've got KEVIN!!!

I'm so thrilled you like Seven Plus One Equals None! Also, yes. Kevin! Kevin needs more love for sure.

Back in the day they used to be ficathons for each sparkly guy. I think you need to start that again, beginning with Kevin :D

Well, you won't hear us complaining. :) Friends = good.

And you know I love your remix. ♥♥♥♥ (You did get the email I sent you last week, didn't you?)

I know! It should happen, but I chickened out! Which sucks, because I'm sure Justin would spread his legs for a squid.

I did get your email, and it made me beam like crazy! I just suck and haven't replied yet.

Ew, ew, ewwwwwwwwwww. Bad Terri! But he's a slut, so yes.

And replying is not necessary, I just wanted to make sure you got it as some other emails apparently haven't come and gone through quite as they should have.

Ahahahahaha. Your icon goes so well with that comment.

No, I will reply because I'll get into bad habits if I don't reply to feedback, especially such lovely feedback. But thanks for checking.

I enjoy reading how people look at their own stories. It's like that look behind the words, which is so cool.

It was very impressive seeing the amount of stories you wrote, especially as there were so many fandoms represented.
