May. 24th, 2008 07:22 pmI want to wish a very happy birthday to
harriet_vane. I haven't known you long, but long enough to know you're an absolute star. I hope your day was a good one. Also, belated birthday wishes to
simply_fly_away *sends love to both*
After nearly 24 hours of travel, Corey's arrived in Morillon. One of the leaders has been updating his voice mail and letting parents know where they are, and the last update was them arriving at the accommodation. While it's weird not having Corey home I know he's safe and they'll all going to have an amazing time. When we dropped him off yesterday he was just beaming, though man, I don't envy those leaders at all. I was also amused that I was allowed a brief kiss of Corey's head while James got a shoulder bump. Yet more proof the kidlet's growing up.
Today we took the in laws up to Holy island and Seahouses. Which meant a walk to the castle, and then chips on the seats overlooking the harbour. Now I'm home and my feet are aching and I'm going to catch up on online stuff, because with one thing and another I've barely glanced at the flist for a few days. Still, I was online enough to see the letter meme is going around again, and Turlough gave me a D.
Dogs -- Though I have more cats I really like dogs too. My dog, Tex, is an old man now. He's 14, with a grey beard and spends most of his time asleep. He's awesome.
David Duchovny -- I've liked him from season one of the X Files. Who can forget him in his red speedos or in the cup photo shoot?
Dance Dance -- My gateway song into bandom. I remember watching the music channels and seeing that video and thinking Pete was damn hot. It was due to him that I lurked in the fandom for a long time.
Diet Coke -- a drink I really love.
Deerfield Accademy -- Nsync in school uniforms, need I say more?
Delta Flyer -- It's the shuttle Tom helped make and design in Voyager. It was very cool and had this retro look that I liked.
DiNozzo -- My favourite character in NCIS
Damaged characters in fic -- I have no shame about this at all.
Discipline and Punish series by Arsenic -- It's way up there as one of my favourite bandom stories.
Delicious bass boys -- Alex Suarez, Jon Walker, Pete Wentz, Mikeyway. I'm talking about you.

My trip was quick, and involved a lot of driving. But I did go to the salon schedule an appt. with her stylist for me for a long time, but I resisted.]and now have cute hair. \o/ [My mother's been trying to schedule an appt. with her stylist for me for a long time, but I resisted. Silly blackbird... ] It also was really, really awesome seeing my dad get the recognition he deserves [that was why we went back - for his promotion dinner]. I am terribly proud of him. :)
S...[the fannish glee edition. ;D]
Shiny! - For me, that *is* a legit thing o' love. I'm easily lured in by flash and pretty, be it music, lovely men, a sexy bit of writing, or a mini disco ball. Shinys keep the worl *interesting* and bright.
Soul Coughing - A perfect blend of jazz, sampling, and beat poet inspired lyrics. It's a shame they only put out three albums...
Seamus Heaney - my poetry boyfriend. He's brilliant and I love his essays/critical writing just as much as his poetry.
Stephen King - While I don't always love his work [Was Tommyknockers necessary? I don't think so.], but I've learned a hell of a lot about writing and horror from King. The Dark Tower series gives me the best kind of shivers too.
Supernatural- Re-writing horror/folklore tropes, while keeping a sense of humor, definitely wins my heart. Adding in two hot boys with ridiculous chemistry, a sweet ride and heaping doses of classic rock secures my love forever.
Sandman, The- Comic book fans have yammered about mythic cycles in story arcs for years. But Neil Gaiman actually *wrote* one - a myth that breathed new life into half-forgotten comic characters, gave old archetypes new stories and raised the bar for graphic storytelling. Sheer genius.
So I Married An Axe Murderer - Mike Myers' funniest and least appreciated movie. This is a cult classic in my circle of friends from the Midlands - primarly because Myers' character is a poet. The slice of coffeehouse life is hilarious and strangely right.
Spencer Smith - for the sheer alliteration, first off. :D But I've also been watching Panic Concert footage, and DAMN that boy is *fierce*.
Second Coming - by W.B.Yeats. Sure, it might be a bit of a cliche, but there's so much fire in that poem - which, I feel, shows off Yeats' power and strength as a poet well - I can't help but love it. And this? And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,/Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? never fails to creep me out. *loves*
Sing,Sing,Sing [with a Swing] - Benny Goodman's verison on the Swing Kids soundtrack is prolly my favorite, but I pretty much adore the song regardless of the musician. It always makes me want to dance.

Date: 2008-05-25 02:12 pm (UTC)And a big old yay for shiny hair and your dad! Those are both fantastic.
I love your S list so much! There's so much in there to love, and I didn't know you enjoyed Supernatural too. See, these memes are educational :)

Date: 2008-05-25 11:06 pm (UTC)Yeah, I adore Supernatural - it's perfect TV for me. SPN does a decent job of filling the void that was left when Buffy and Angel went off the air.
And I *will* have my bio-disel Impala. Yes, yes I will...

Great D list!

I do have new eye candy! This was me thinking about maybe fussing with my journal style a little. Changing that picture was as far as I got *g*
