People that are awesome.

[livejournal.com profile] llamabitchyo who sent me armadillo buttons! Armadillo buttons called Chris, JC, Joey, Lance, Justin and Mikeyway! Thank you so much, honey *mwah*

[livejournal.com profile] sperrywink who gives me links to CSI sex slave fic! Slave fic, people!

[livejournal.com profile] bubbleforest who understands the need to talk about slave boys in cages and chains.

[livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade who is the enabler to my Mikeyway sexslave in chains subplot of the space au.

The rest of you are awesome too, of course. I know these things.

I've read some lovely stories that I've enjoyed a lot lately. Finding the Words to Say which is Jon/Ryan, Brendon/Spencer and they have superpowers! Now I have a not so secret love of superpower fic, and I enjoyed this a lot. Ride All Night by [livejournal.com profile] zelda_zee which is Lance/Chris/JC and dude. It rocks. So damn hot and funny. Sometimes Jokes Just Have to be Made Mikey/Frank, and just, guh! Which doesn't do the story justice but sometimes that's all you're capable of when a story hits those buttons Sunnymead Gerard/Mikey and it's just. Ways I swear. Lesa writes them so well. Lastly, I finally read Arsenic's Ray ficlets and while they're all fantastic, the Ray/Mikey at the end? oh, my heart ♥

Despite getting up early this morning the nurse only came a while back. James got his stitches out and a lot of them had embedded, and man, getting them taken out, not fun at all.

The brick monitor has started flickering lately so I loaded the stories I'm working on onto Google docs. I like it so far, especially seeing it save so often.

And now as I have time before James needs to go to the doctors, the

1) How has LJ changed your life?

A lot. I have friends who I know are there for me at any time. People who have become so much more than names on a screen. I've met so many people and been accepted by them, which for someone as socially awkward and self conscious as I am is such an amazing thing. LJ helped show I can do things well, and introduced me to the people who can help me be even better. I have a solid core of people who are as dear to me as anyone I'd ever meet in so called real life. LJ gave me that.

2) What do you do before bedtime?

I'm usually online. I have a last look at LJ and email, let the dog out in the garden for a bit. Let him in, lock up and check the windows. Wash up, brush my teeth, tell myself that yes I really did lock the doors and shut the windows.

3) What are you going to have for dinner tonight?

I have no idea. Something easy anyway, maybe chicken curry.

4) What is the ONE place you want to go to before you die if you had the money and the time?
I've always wanted to go to Canada to see a NHL game. They always look so fantastic and I want to go to a place where hockey is a main sport and not something minor that gets maybe one tiny column in the local sunday paper.

5) are you an introvert or an extrovert?

Introvert. Put me in the same place as more than two or so people and I won't say a word.

6) What do you do in your free time?

I read, I write, I mess online, I read more, I play games with Corey, play with the cats, spend time with James, go to the coast with the car windows down and music turned up loud. Mostly reading though.

7) Do you trust easily?

Probably too much at times.

8) What personal belonging do you have with you everywhere you go?

The only things that are always with me when I go out are my keys. If I'm going out on my own I'll take my mp3 player, bag, purse etc, but when I'm in the car I don't even bother with those.

9) Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?

Sure.

10) What is your best quality?

Maybe the ability to laugh at myself. I'm quite ridiculous at times.

11) Is being tagged fun?

Sometimes. It depends what it is.

12) How do you see yourself?

With my eyes.

13) Do you prefer rain or snow?

Snow. Though I like rain too, especially the downpour kind that belts against the ground. That's if I'm inside of course.

14) What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?

As I tagged myself I have to say, I am awesome!

15) Poor but loved, or rich but hated?

Honestly, I'm torn. When you've nearly lost your house and have to account for every penny. Being rich is a tempting prospect.

16) How many children do you want?

Well I have one, and want more. Maybe two.

17) What's better; to give or to receive?

To give. Going out and finding something someone will love is great. I just wish I could do it more. Or if we're talking fic here. It's always receive!

18) What do you feel about sex without love?

It's fine. Sex is fun and if you're not attached why not?

19) Would you have 100% safe sex with a stranger for $10,000,000?

Yep. Which probably says bad things about my morals, but again. That's a heck of a lot of money.

20) What would you name yourself if you'd been born the opposite gender?

Benedict Archibald Percy Benjamin the 4th!

I've got such a power inequality squick, sex slave stories usually freaks me out.

I haven't read Lesa's new story yet. Sunnanäng is the kind of story that always make me cry like a baby when I read it so I haven't been in the mood, it's been too hot to feel sad.

So you're not going to read my sex slave coda then? :P

I haven't read the original story, but Lesa's version is so lovely. I didn't find it sad at all. Of course it wasn't all happy joy joy either but I adored the end.

Best name ever!

It depends :-)

I think it's the atmosphere of the original that makes it so terribly sad. Very beautiful, but sad. And I'm kind of conflicted if the ending is good or bad.

I'm afraid it might be bad form to jump in on this, but what you guys are saying is so interesting to me that I'm... doing it anyway? Forgive me if it's rude! Anyway, Turlough, I find that the original story always makes me cry too, and since I lifted the plot pretty much wholesale from it, my own guess is that yeah, you'd probably find my version just as sad. Or ambivalent at best. In fact that happens to me with a lot of Lindgren's stories, so much of the magical/fantasy stuff is happy in itself, but if I try to figure out what that would translate to in the "real" world, as more of a psychological symbol, then it can start looking pretty bleak.

So I'm kind of perversely psyched that it sounds like I managed to keep some of the same ambivalence in what I borrowed, because it's part of what I love best about the original. And I totally understand if you're not feeling like the mood or the time is right for taking that on.

I don't think you're rude at all, and if you are I am too because I'm going to reply to your comment to Turlough.

Like I said, I haven't read the original, but what came across from your story was the utter belief and love Gerard and Mikey have for one another. They find that the world outside is against them, and then find a place where they're accepted, somewhere they feel safe and are able to do the things they love. Which is so very different to their life outside, where Gerard was so obviously sinking no matter how hard he tried.

The contrast between the two is so apparent. Love and warmth. Dislike and cold that I really can't see the end as sad at all.

I think this is what I do too. Which probably explains my dislike of Brothers Lionheart (or whatever it's called in English). I don't dislike Sunnanäng, only find it so very, very sad. But from what Terri said in her comment I might not think the same thing about your story, or at least not as strongly.

LOL! Everyone I know loves hockey! Even awsome slasher met on the Internet! :o
Seriously my roommates and one of our friends are obsessed and when the NHL season starts they get together every hockey night with junk food to watch the game. I lock myself in my room and read fic. Until I'm being called anti-social and go sit with them. I find it so boring! :o

I can imagine if you don't like the game it must be really boring to have to watch. Especially on tv. I vote for reading fic and ignoring them.
