turps: (Mikey hair ( wertica_))
[personal profile] turps
My sister came to mine yesterday afternoon. While here she checked her Facebook and as her status put she was sick of her geeky sister. ( It's a thing, I tend to get on my FB and say I wish my sister would leave ) One of her friends replied with something or other, and Kay replied with 'at least I'm not a space nut that gets off on boyband porn'. Which really. Way to cross the fannish and real life streams.

I also got a FB invite to my old school's Christmas party at a local club. I would rather boil my own head in hot oil.

Thank you to everyone that answered my question in the last post. There was a lot of fascinating answers which I really enjoyed reading. Between that and all the editing I did yesterday I ended up dreaming about adding a new scene to my story. Of course I couldn't remember what it was this morning. Which obviously means it would have been the best thing in the whole fic.

And now, a meme as tagged by [livejournal.com profile] wovenindelibly

1. What are your nicknames?
Turps. Which is what my brother always calls me, which is why to that niece and nephew I'm auntie Turps. I get called Ter a lot, too, especially online.

2. How do you style your hair?
Most days I just brush it and shove in a hairband, because I'm lazy, and it also keeps my fringe out of my eyes. But sometimes I put it up in a clip. I should cut it really, it's too long for me to do anything with.

3. What's new in your life right now?
Nothing. I'm the most boring person in the world.

4. How many colors are you wearing now?
Two. Blue t-shirt and black skirt.

5. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
Introvert.

6. What was the last book you read?
It was a Mills and Boon book my dad's partner gave me. I keep a bag full in the car and read them when I'm sitting waiting somewhere. I have no idea what it was called. Just there was a plucky heroine and a dastardly evil misunderstood hero. Like every other book in that series.

7. Do you nap a lot?
Nope. I find it hard to sleep during the day.

8. If the person you secretly like is already taken, what would you do?
Mope about that but not say anything.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Lots of things, but they're not worth dwelling on.

10. What was the last thing you ate today?
I've just had an egg sandwich for dinner.

11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Not long. I shower on a night so it's case of throwing on my clothes, brushing my hair and teeth and I'm good to go.

12. What websites do you visit daily?
Live Journal. I also go to the etiquette hell boards a lot. I like laughing at all the things you're not supposed to do. According to those people I would have been cast into etiquette hell years ago.

13. what classes are you taking right now? and if you're not in school anymore, what's your job?
I don't have a job, not unless you count slave to the cats.

14. Do you like to clean?
It depends what job it is. I tend to be on top of most cleaning jobs but some get left until I have to do something.

15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
Space Cowboy, for which I totally blame [livejournal.com profile] randomling

16. What are you doing right now?
Typing this answer, but I'm also listening to the Offspring special on Kerrang and am about to go make some coffee before finishing off some editing.

17. What's better: eternal love or memorable love?
This question puzzles me, because if love is eternal it has to be memorable. Unless you're like, a goldfish or something.

18. What would you do if you see $100 lying on the ground?
Mourn it wasn't £100

19. Best time of your life?
Age 16-18 when I was at college, had a group of good friends and went out clubbing, did volunteer work and was a full time hockey nut. Age 20 when I was pregnant and James and I had our own house and were first living together. Age 21 when we got our present house and Corey was a baby.

20. Tell me something good.
On a purely personal level, I keep getting shown over and over I have an amazing group of friends around me. People that will put in effort on my behalf and are just there when needed. That I have that is amazing. On a wider level. It's Christmas soon, and that's my most favourite time of year by far.

Okay, tags. I tag you and you and you. Go, answer!

You are NOT the most boring person in the world. Not by a long shot! You are sweet and funny and interesting and sometimes crazy and you give the best story ideas in the universe. SO. [glares at you]

See, Chris agrees with me.

This answer cracked me up because it's so true. Why wouldn't it be memorable if it's eternal? Silly meme question writers.

Memorable love: the kind of love where years later you still wake up screaming and clutching the blankets, and then need to sleep with the lights on.

Eternal love: the kind of love where every minute you spend with someone feels like a fucking eternity.

{mwah!}

{mourns the lost dream scene}

Would it be the extra scene with more Ray and Frank in it?

Ahahahaha. Those are serious kinds of love.

It probably was a lost Ray or Frank scene, considering it was those I was thinking about before bed. It's annoying because if I could remember I'd written such a scene, and it worked. I think I should also remember what I actually wrote.

Fail, brain. Fail!

I think running a household and raising a child are both full-time jobs, even if unpaid.

Omg I have never wanted to go to a class reunion either. I already see the people I still want to see, and the others, well, I don't need them and they don't need me. So I fully support your right to stay in and have a nice cozy evening at home that night!

It's more kidding than anything. She knows I like slash and write about the popboys and isn't bothered by that. She just doesn't understand it, and doesn't get that it's not something I really want spreading everywhere. I'm not at all ashamed of liking what I do, but there's a time and place.

Absolutely! Some things are just... private. Or private-ish. Like you could totally not be ashamed of your sexual kinks, but you don't tell strangers on the bus or your grandmother.

I've managed to dodge all invites to high school reunions. It's a plus that everytime someone throws one for the class or for JROTC I'm living in the other side of the country so I can always use that excuse. It's funny that when we moved back to California for a year and a half no one had planned any. *whew*

Aren't you glad of the 'delete' button? lol I've managed to keep family and real life school and work friends away from my LJ and only kept in touch with them on Myspace and Facebook. I don't need those worlds to collide. I know that I've got friends on LJ that are also friends on MS and FB but we never discuss fandoms on things on LJ there.

School reunions give me the shivers. Yesterday the BFF tried her best to convince me to go, and I was like, no way in hell.

That's it exactly. My FB is totally non-fannish, while obviously my LJ is hugely so. I really don't want the two to meet. My sister's friends really don't need to know that I write boyband porn.

Date: 2008-11-14 12:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jtblackeyeliner.livejournal.com
The one and only reunion I went to was my husband's 10yr reunion. I only went because I knew so many people at his school because we had the same friends and some of them I met from JROTC drill team competitions and others I knew way back from when I was like 5 or 6 years old. The sad thing was that there were so many of the old teachers there and they were shocked when I told them I had never went to that school. Apparently, I cut classes at my own school so many times to go to their school that I was like a regular fixture there. LOL

Oh, man. I have a friend on MS and she writes bandom porn. She used to throw ideas at me by way of comments on my MS page. Some of them was pretty explicit. I kept telling her to not do it in the comments but she would always forget. I would have to go back and delete them because I had so many family members coming to my page...including my 7 year old niece! I couldn't chance her reading about bj's and such and then go running to my cousin to ask what they were! >.< So I finally had to just screen my comments or just change my layout to where my comments weren't shown.
