Jan. 21st, 2009 12:10 pmLast night we went to bed early. Settled down, slept, then around 1am we were woken by a noise.
James jumped up in bed, I lay there, heart thumping at the sound of a guitar playing really loud, a crash of a drum, and someone speaking. For background, James watches tv late into the night and sleeps with it on, so I'm used to sleeping through the sounds of the tv. This was way louder than that. So James got out of bed, scuttled across the room to investigate, and I stayed in bed, frantically trying to think what it could be. The cats walking over Corey's keyboard? No, it's not plugged in, and anyway, it's coming from downstairs. The club across the road having a concert? Coming from downstairs! I even wondered if the cats had managed to turn on guitar hero somehow, which was wildly implausible but better than thinking someone was downstairs.
Heart racing, I listened. There were no shouts for help or crashing, thank goodness, I may have had a heart attack if so. Then the noise stopped, and James came stomping back upstairs vowing vengeance against me.
You see, earlier I'd been watching the Cobra's webcam, then they'd gone off somewhere so I'd tabbed out and totally forgot about it. Apparently they'd come back and decided to have a jam session, which combined with the fact my computer speakers were turned way up, made it sound like they were in my front room.
Thank you Gabe, you managed to frighten a year off my life last night.
And for anyone that read James' post. Tell him I'm not a muppet at all.
In other news, the FiL did come yesterday. After a long time banging and crashing and carrying doors from garage to house, we discovered that they were all two inches too short. Which really. So many sighs. So the old doors are staying up.

Date: 2009-01-21 04:53 pm (UTC)It does, but they cost nothing, so we're not out of pocket. I just a lot of mess and effort on the fils part.
