This morning I was changing the sheet on our bed. Not a hard job you'd think, but when you have a small gap on one side of the bed only, and you add in the mattress topper, well, it gets more complicated.
First, the sheet is elasticated, which means hooking one corner at the bottom, stretching it onto the other corner and then doing a combined hold on tight-stretch-dive move to get to the top. Of course, this has to be done while in a star fish shape, because you have to keep the sheet taut or it'll spring out of your grasp.
So, you're at the top of the bed, corner of sheet in one hand, and somehow have to heave up the very heavy and awkward mattress with the other. But you know what makes it worse? While doing so I'm being judged by all four cats, because whenever I go upstairs they inevitably all follow. It doesn't matter what they've been doing or where, I go into the bedroom or bathroom, look up and there they all are.
So, they're sitting, judging my bed making efforts, and really, what right do they have? It's not like they could do better. Still, clean sheets, that's always awesome.
The weekend has been nice. On Saturday we went grocery shopping and while at Asda I picked up the new Kerrang for the Frank and Gerard article. While checking out the very chatty shop girl mentioned how she was watching the channel earlier, and I was like yes, come to me fellow Kerrang fan! Then she got chatting how she'd changed musical genres really fast, going from pop to bands like MCR and we got to talking about how I did the same, and how I liked Nsync and she went, doesn't everyone like Nysnc? at which point I wanted chatty shop girl to talk with me about Nsync and MCR forever.
Yesterday we went for a drive to the beach. There was snow on the sand dunes and it looked so stark and beautiful. The pond in the park was frozen over and the seagulls were skating on landing on take off, while the swans lorded it over everyone from their end of the pond which still had unfrozen water.
Then I came home, did the usual Sunday things and wrote. I should hit 20k today and hopefully should wrap it up by 30. Hopefully. In that way there's no chance of that at all.

Date: 2009-02-09 12:59 pm (UTC)But I do love to sleep in freshly washed sheets and pyjamas. There's nothing much better than that.
and she went, doesn't everyone like Nysnc?
Haha. WORD.
I'm jealous you live close to the beach. Me wanna. Cold though atm, I guess?

Date: 2009-02-09 01:08 pm (UTC)YES! Everyone should like Nsync.
It's really cold right now, colder than it usually is too. It's been a weird winter over here. I've seen more snow than I have for years.

"Pssht, 6 at best, surely she could have made that reach at the halfway mark."
"No, no, no, a 9 for sure--did you see that save there at the end? Brilliant work!"

Sometimes Froufrou just walks suddenly into my room then stops and looks intensely at me. And then leaves.

Date: 2009-02-09 04:22 pm (UTC)What a great shop girl!
The beach sounds wonderful. There is something so majestic about the sea in the winter.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that today's writing will be successful.

Date: 2009-02-09 05:24 pm (UTC)She was an awesome shop girl. I wanted to take her away to talk.
Yeah, the beach was wonderful. Cold and still and so weird to see snow on sand.
Well, I haven't started writing yet, but I have time!

Date: 2009-02-09 10:55 pm (UTC)Well, something came up so I only hit 19,937. I guess I could go for those last few words but it would mean starting a new bit and I need to go to bed sometime tonight.
I made them eat out of the bin anyway, so result *g*

Date: 2009-02-10 06:17 am (UTC)ps...your nsync bonding story and how the snow looked...has me jealous. No more snow here...and definitely no local friends of mine into boybands.
