Mar. 28th, 2011 12:03 pmThe weekend was a good one. Saturday we took our niece and nephew to the farm. It's only a few minutes from where we live and was a lot of fun. I got to bottle feed lambs and comb a donkey ( some of you know how much I like donkeys so getting to comb Silver was fabulous ) and laugh at James getting pecked by an emu, the kids had fun too. I may post some pictures later, because I know you all live to see my blurry photos.
Yesterday it was lovely, sunny if a little cold still, so we went for a drive to the beach and had dinner at the sea front. James and Corey fish and chips and I had to have what was the worst wrap from Subway ever. James went to get it and the girl working there said they didn't sell them, which is rubbish as that's what I get often. When she found out that yeah, they actually did, she made something that was supposed to be a wrap, and which James called a fold, because that's all she did. Still, eating at the sea front in the sunshine, that's not a bad way to spend time at all.
BBB writing has still been happening, if slowly. At this point I know for a fact I'll hit the minimum word count, the issue is getting the first draft done in time. Stupid stories with their stupid plots >:(
Unrelated to anything. Last week our toaster broke, so we bought a cheap one from Asda. It was part of their bargain range and damn can you tell. The slots aren't even wide enough for a crumpet, you had to jab it in, and then when it's toasted hook it back out with something, which of course makes the crumpet all tattered and wrong. I'm not impressed at all and suspect the thing may be going back.
In much happier news. I think is a fantastic idea.

Date: 2011-03-28 11:53 am (UTC)Cheap toasters are the worst, especially if the slots are too small.

Date: 2011-03-28 11:59 am (UTC)I don't get why they make toasters with slots like that. If you can't even fit in a crumpet or half a bagel it's too small. Simple as. I should send them a strongly worded complaint too. Let my grumpy side free.

Date: 2011-03-28 01:09 pm (UTC)That's total crap, about the Subway wrap. You should've taken it back, because they're supposed to pride themselves in appearance just as much as in taste and quality. I mean, granted, it's not difficult to wrap a wrap yourself, but if she doesn't know how to do her job, then she and her managers should know so she can be corrected.
I don't know what a crumpet is, but I don't think it would be nice all tattered. Hopefully you can return the toaster and get one with wider slats.
Ooh, BBB! I've been half-considering using my fic for it, but. No. It's nowhere near finished and I'm not brave enough to try to get a first draft done in time. So I'll just plod along my merry way as I have been XD But good luck with yours!

Sounds lovely! I envy that so much - I miss the seaside.

Date: 2011-03-28 02:51 pm (UTC)I'm glad yours is still being written. If you can't finish the first draft, summarizing the missing parts is your best bet.
I'm sure you will finish on time though!
Thanks for pimping the meme. :)

Date: 2011-03-29 01:17 pm (UTC)I'd probably added about ten words since you'd last seen, and apparently had stopped in the middle of a sentence again. Then I went off and researched the cost of hiring a storage locker in the US, then started a Mikey/Mike cross dressing fic. As you do. At least, you do if you're me.

Date: 2011-03-29 03:05 pm (UTC)Yeah, you're right about the wrap and how she didn't know her job. I should have known as while we were waiting someone else brought back their food, which is always a bad sign. I usually love Subway stuff too, but this was terrible.
I was going to explain, but figured a picture would be better.
Thank you! And for your story too.

Date: 2011-03-29 03:18 pm (UTC)Subway's one of my favorite places to eat, so it bums me out that this happened to you. Thankfully I normally only go to one Subway in particular, and that hasn't happened to me yet. It makes me leery of going to others, though. I hate it when people don't do their job right.
