Yesterday I mentioned I had something else I wanted to post about that needed a thank you, and this is it.

This year was the first year I'd actually managed to finish a BBB. For my wave one I was incredibly lucky to have squashbee pick my story for art.

She is amazing. It was her first time doing art for a BBB, and I actually got in touch with her very soon after she picked my story. Because of that she kept me informed of what she was creating, and emailed me the reference sketches she'd been doing.

After BBB was over she asked if I wanted the actual sketches, and I said yes, because I love them beyond all reason. And she sent them, and they're amazing.

It's so incredibly cool to have someone sketch scenes from a story you wrote, and she nailed how I was seeing things. Really,

At the time I told Squashbee that the sketches you'd produced summed up my fannish loves in many ways, and seeing the sketches together like this shows that nicely. Ways bros! Ryan in a bad situation, Mikey, a hospital scene, Mikey and Pete. So many of the things I love.

Way bros! Oh man, this sketch. I want to keep these displayed on my desk, but I keep looking and having a moment because it's such a vital part of the story, and Gerard has found Mikey and just. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

Wow, T, seeing the sketches, having them has to be super-groovy!

(FWIW, I can only read this BBB in very small bits 'cause the hurtier parts don't make for good, before-bed reading--which is when I read most of the fic in my ereader. I do promise you I'll finish it at some point (if only so that I can get the surround-sound feeling of the Mikeyway and Gerard scene. In truth, that's the scene that pulled me into reading this fic.)

Having the sketches is amazing. She's the best.

I can totally understand that. The story is very hurty, probably up there with the more hurt heavy of mine, and that's saying a lot. But it does get balanced out as you can see by the picture.
