turpsI opened the file for the rps big bang today, and was pleasantly surprised to see I'd written more than I'd remembered. I like when that happens. My most pressing thought about the story right now is who Ray takes on in his gardening firm, because Frank is off at plant school and Ray needs more staff. But who? A band girl would be good, but my mind keeps going, Pete! Add Pete! Which wouldn't work and I know that. Maybe an OC or someone from Panic, because just the thought of Ryan digging is making me laugh. I don't know, it's only a small role but important, because they're so tight this newbie can't push their way in. Maybe no one will apply and Ray and Bob will have to work 24/7.

mikeyway_daily yesterday. He'd tweeted about 98 Degrees and Benji Madden replied saying they should make their own boyband and it just took off from there. Until we had a bandom boyband consisting of Mikey, Benji, Pete, Bert and Brendon along with Bob the bodyguard, Gerard the make up artist, Gabe the choreographer and Frank, Mikey's secret moustached boyfriend. saxihighlandck is going to write the story! She's talking about it at her post here along with the boyband designations. The mysterious one, the smiley one etc. This is very happy making indeed.
Also, how did I miss that BSB tweeted that Brian was leaving to join MCR? That amused me so much.
It's sad news that Brian has left music. I think people should console themselves by writing much Brian fic -- hold on. I bet Brian could dig.
Eta because unless you can follow what I'm thinking that's confusing. First Brian is BSB Brian, second MCR's Brian.

Poor Ray - his life is so hard.

Date: 2009-07-23 03:24 pm (UTC)He could be, yes. Maybe Ray doesn't get many people applying, because it's only part-time work for low pay and no benefits -- that's okay, yeah? Employers don't have to provide benefits? Or would it be minimal ones?
So Bob has this friend who's kind of desperate and doesn't actually know anything about plants but Bob will vouch for him, so Ray just sighs and says, tell him he starts at 6am tomorrow.

A lot of people get private insurance [which is expensive and not the greatest, but it's better than nothing]. It's very difficult for small businesses like Ray's to be able to afford benefits for their employees.
yes, I think all of that sounds just about right.
[I'm seeing Brian, with a big ol' sheet wrinkles on his face -but otherwise wise 'respectable'-looking -smoking like a fiend as he waits for the van. I have obviously decided that he's not a morning person. It is likely I'm projecting. ;P]

I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with people over the last year alone in about benefits - it seems like good insurance is almost more important than a good salary.
Well, Brian is wee and determined, so it's easy for him to wriggle his way into the smallest of cracks.

The news about Brian makes me very sad. I totally understand that he might be tired of managing bands and wants to do something completely different, but I'm still SAD about it :-/

Well you know, we needed a crazy one and Bert seemed to fit the bill. It was suggested at the comm that Gerard would follow Bob around wanting to do his make up, sadly Bob was having none of it.
It is a sad thing, hopefully he's doing something he loves.
