Aug. 23rd, 2009 09:48 amHappy birthday to
lincolnkw and
lassieoshea I hope you're both having great days ♥
I finished my
rpf_big_bang first draft yesterday. It ended as just under 42k but will probably add on a little more because some parts need strengthening I suspect. Thankfully I have plenty of time for that, so last night I just wrote the last word and shoved it at
sperrywink and pretty much said, done. Now she gets to fix it, and I have a week to think of a title and an enticing summary before I have to send the rough drafts to the mods of the comm.
We also went to Ikea yesterday. That place just keeps getting bigger and bigger, two floors and you have to follow the arrows for what seems like forever, like rats in a maze. It didn't help it was crowded and hot and by half way around I was done. We'd gone to get a mat for Corey's room, and came out with a dish rack dryer, which we found out was broken when we got home. It can stay broken too, going back all that way for a £4 rack would be stupid. Still, I got the last vegetarian hot dog so that was a win.
The grocery delivery will be arriving soon, then it's off to visit nanna before an afternoon with the bff. Which means I should get ready. Hauling in shopping in my nightie probably isn't the best idea.

Date: 2009-08-23 09:46 am (UTC)I never expected it to get so long. It was supposed to be a coda of a story that itself was just over 17k. I fail at codas.

Date: 2009-08-23 10:18 am (UTC)Ikea is a place of evil. You always get in with a clear idea of what you need and somehow always get tricked - by their maze of evil arrows - into buying a toilet brush, a very small shelf and a mirror shaped like a flower ... I love Ikea!! lol

Date: 2009-08-23 10:37 am (UTC)Ahahaha. Yep, I know exactly what you mean. I usually end up with big bags of tea lights. They're so tempting, even if I have enough to last for years.

Date: 2009-08-23 11:08 am (UTC)Ikea is a place of wonder and confusion. But your dish thing is broken, that's so sad!

Date: 2009-08-23 05:23 pm (UTC)It is broken! It's supposed to stand up, and just lies there all sad. It's to cry.

Date: 2009-08-23 05:22 pm (UTC)Thank you! It's so weird to be so close to finished and have to wait so long to post. I'm not used to that at all.

Date: 2009-08-23 03:08 pm (UTC)Ikea is a place of love and wonder but not really a place to visit on a Saturday. Far too many people and too hot and generally miserable. I much prefer mornings in the middle of the week. Ikea Kalmar can be almost deserted at eleven o'clock on a Tuesday, it's perfect to leisurely browsing.
Have a great afternoon! (Why not? It would be a thrilling new experience for the delivery guy I'm sure ;-)

Date: 2009-08-23 05:21 pm (UTC)Yeah, it was a bad decision to go on a Saturday. The place was packed and so hot. Not helped by you never see daylight once you're inside. All you can do is keep going forward.
I have had a good afternoon, though the delivery man was late so I was fully dressed when he arrived. Plus, he was so busy carrying bags of cat litter I doubt he had a thrill left in him.

Date: 2009-08-23 03:12 pm (UTC)I don't even have a beta. Shit. I should get on that. O__o
Yay for veggie hot dogs.

Date: 2009-08-23 05:18 pm (UTC)I hear you on struggling to finish stories. I need to start my bandom_hc story now. I really need to stop joining so many challenges.
Finding good betas is so hard. I'm so thankfully to have mine.
Ikea veggie hot dogs are so tasty. Also, cheap.

Date: 2009-08-23 08:57 pm (UTC)Oh god. IKEA is the best crack-filled store ever. The last time I went there with my sis, we spent about an hour sitting on the floor, sifting through their different finger puppets and felt hats ;D And no one gave us funny looks at all! Haha. I applaud you for braving that place on a weekend! Major win for getting the last veggie hot dog too!

Date: 2009-08-24 09:46 am (UTC)Ikea has such amazing stuff, like finger puppets. Those are awesome. I really like the snakes, too.
Man, I love their veggie hot dogs but they run out so often. It's insane.

Date: 2009-08-23 10:55 pm (UTC)(and Ikea can be evil like this, but the veggie hotdogs kinda make up for it)

Date: 2009-08-24 01:14 pm (UTC)The veggie hotdogs from Ikea are amazing. Sadly they always seem to run out when I'm there.

Date: 2009-09-02 11:10 am (UTC)I have a tiny bit of editing to do and the story is done completely. I've never finished anything so early. It's weird.
