Dec. 8th, 2011 09:20 amI love that curtain fic meme that's going around. But I'm not allowed to do anything that requires actual words until I finish this story.
Which is why I did the
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? -- Hot chocolate. I've never tasted egg nog, and to be honest, have no desire to do so.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? -- Wrapped and then left in piles on the sofa/floor etc. Each person gets their own pile. Santa is very organised like that.
3. Coloured lights on tree/house or white? -- We have beautiful bright blue ones this year. Let me tell you, buying new lights leads to a lot less stress when you put the damn things up.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? -- Nope.
5. When do you put your decorations up? -- The 1st of December. It's James' birthday so it's a nice way to celebrate that. I mean, what better way to spend a birthday than arguing over popped lights and hauling boxes out of the spare room.
6. What is your favourite holiday dish? -- I think my favourite is boxing day, when you lie in after the chaos of Christmas day itself, come downstairs and it's all quiet, new stuff everywhere and in the fridge are the leftovers, including platters of turkey and pork. Later they'll be made into sandwiches for boxing day buffet tea, but I always have a turkey, stuffing and mint sauce sandwich on the morning, and every year it's the best sandwich ever.
7. Favourite holiday memory as a child? -- Getting my Sindy doll's house. It was huge, three stories high and took my dad hours to put together. My Sindy dolls lived like queens.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? -- I've always known Santa was awesome.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? -- Everyone gets new pjs on Christmas Eve.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? -- With ALL the decorations! Lights, tinsel, beads, stings of bells, stuff that's been hand made by Corey and James' scouts, and many ornaments. Every year we buy a special one and I love looking at them and remembering buying each one. It was a glass snowman head this year, he's so cute.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? -- I like looking at it, and don't mind when you walk through the fluffy stuff. It's when it gets ice coated and grey that I hate.
12. Can you ice skate? -- I used to back in the day. No way could I do it now.
13. Do you remember your favourite gift? -- Like I said above I loved that Sindy house, but I always get stuff I love. These days it tends to lots of stuff from Lush and books, and it's awesome seeing those stacked up. This year James has bought me a Kindle :)
14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you? -- Hanging with my family and seeing them enjoy the things that we've bought for them.
15. What is your favourite holiday dessert? -- We don't eat dessert on Christmas day, but boxing day buffet always has a few huge cakes. Om nom nom. Also, trifle. The only time it's made and nothing special, just strawberry jelly, sponge fingers, custard, cream and sprinkles, but so delicious.
16. What is your favourite holiday tradition? -- Tracking Santa on Norad every year. I always have that site on seeing where he is in the world. Delivering gifts on Christmas Eve and listening to Santa talk to kids via our local radio station, Boxing day buffet which is much more low key than the dinner before, and means we laze and graze most of the day.
17. What tops your tree? -- A star.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? -- Giving
19. Candy Canes? -- Are not very tasty at all.
20. Favourite Christmas show? -- The Snowman. I love that so much, even though it's sad at the end D:
21. Saddest Christmas song? -- I have no idea.
22. What is your favourite Christmas song? -- O Holy Night, the Nsync version. Also, Fairytale of New York.
23. Favorite Christmas movie? -- I don't really have a favourite, but at this time of year tend to watch every cheesy, ridiculous Christmas movie going. Sky has a Christmas movie channel in Dec, and it's on often this time of year.
24. How long do you leave up Christmas decorations? -- 1st of January, I'm always more than ready to see the back of them then.
25. What kind of cookies do you leave for Santa? -- Cookies, what is this madness? He gets a glass of sherry and a mince pie, while the reindeer are left a bowl of milk and some carrots on the back step.
Now I want to watch the Ntimate Holiday Special.
