Weight management exercise only class restarted again today, and I was glad to get back into an accountability routine because I've sucked lately. As class doesn't start until 11 I decided to go to the gym first too, and it was good to be back there too, saying hello to the regulars and doing a mini leg day. I also got to use my new nifty magnetic gym bag, which works beautifully attaching itself to the machines.

James was supposed to be back to work after bereavement leave, but ended up being sent home by his team leader, who said he was nowhere close to being in the right headspace to take calls. I knew it would be a hard day as he always used to call his mam on the way to work, making sure she was doing okay, and of course, couldn't do that today. But I didn't expect a call an hour after leaving for work saying he was coming home. Work suggested he stay off until after the funeral, and he's got a sick note from the doctor that covers that period.

Now he's tucked up under his heated throw and fast asleep, which will, hopefully, do him good. But man, it's so cold here today. The sink in the downstairs toilet didn't drain due to frozen pipes and the pavements are so slippery, with more snow and ice forecast for tonight.

Despite having a load of recorded stuff to watch, I've been binge-watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds the last few nights, and enjoying it lots. I'm getting close to the end of season one right now, and suspect I'll watch more tonight. That's despite having an ep of The Traitors, Pottery Throwdown, New Year Bake Off, New Year Taskmaster, Celeb SAS Who Dares Win, Christmas All Creatures Great and Small, two eps of The Masked Singer to watch, and then tonight, new Pete Wicks, For Dogs Sake, and man, do I love that show, and Pete, so much.

But before any of that, time to make tea, then lobster bath time.

Yep, I decided that as I was in the gym building anyway for class I'd fill some time beforehand with a quick session. It made sense at the time *g*

Strange New Worlds is so good. I don't know why I haven't watched it before.

I'm glad they sent James home when they saw that he wasn't in the right headspace to answer phones. I hope he feels better after his nap, though ~really feeling better is going to take some time.

The weather is so bad atm I figured it would be better to get a gym session done when I was in the building anyway *g* But yeah, it felt good getting back to a routine. I'm cutting myself slack for it, but I didn't eat or exercise at all well these last few weeks, and was feeling sluggish for it.

Then Rosie was just back from her belated honeymoon so was full of beans and extra evil making us do fast feet for 30 second bursts, which was basically running on the spot!

Yeah, sadly time is the only thing that will help James, he was fine leaving for work, but I think sitting in the car and realising he couldn't call her as usual, really brought things crashing down.

The pipes froze again last night, I'm over this weather already.

Ugh, frozen pipes are the worst! I'm sorry you're having to deal with that. Nothing's burst, has it?

Nope, thank goodness.

It's just the sink in the downstairs toilet that's affected. Because of the freezing temps the drainage pipe is icing up, so the sink won't drain. Which is a pain, but at least it's not one of the main sinks.

Oh no, poor James - I used to do the same, called my mum when I walked from the train station to the office. And hopefully there won't be any repercussions from work for him being off. Sending hugs.

WE've just caught up on the Christmas/NY episdoes of Sewing Bee, Pottery and Bake Off. I think there's something we've forgotten but... no idea what it is!

Thankfully, James' work has a really good sickness allowance so he's been assured it's fine he's taken this time. But yeah, calling his mam was an ingrained habit and he always started his days talking to her. He did call his sister instead yesterday, but no way was it the same.

I'm sure I'll have forgotten something too, there is so much to watch over Christmas and New Year. I managed to watch Pottery last night, so maybe I'll get to Bake Off later.

When I read "magnetic gym bag" my first thought was of a bag that attached itself to you. It sounded quite weird so I was relieved to read the rest of the sentence :-)

I guess you have the usual sort of outside-the-walls English pipes? I will never stop being amazed by those. Pipes are supposed to be inside insulated walls! Your houses really aren't built for cold :-D Hopefully your weather will soon turn warmer again *keeps fingers crossed for you*

Bereavement leave is often far too short, I'm glad James has been signed off until at least after the funeral... until they've been through it people often seem to think that the leave is about getting all the things sorted out, which it can be for some people, but for so many others it's about the fact that grief makes yor brain so gluey and that you feel like your skin is only half there and work is just another thing on someone who's already weighed down.

I wonder if you're sticking wit ST:SNW because your brain is also over-full right now - one fictional universe might be enough for a bit?

Keep looking after yourself, it's a hard time for you, too, and you've got to be there for James, so it's easy to sublimate your own needs <3 I'm glad you've got the gym and class (and lobster baths. The BEST) <3 <3
