Due to James doing a bag pack with the scouts today and being at work tomorrow we had to push all our Christmas preparation up a few days. With the result that yesterday I was all shopped out -- big time. I was at the point where if we'd forgotten a present or some food or drink item, tough, we'd do without. Thankfully we're pretty much done now. Presents were sorted last night and James will be dropping them off at the in laws and dad's on the way home. We saw nanna last night and any other people will be coming to ours. And in fact, my brother has just visited with my niece and nephew. Young kids are awesome at Christmas, I love how excited they get, and how happy they look to be given presents :D
I don't know why but everything seems to have taken longer and more effort this year. Maybe because most of the time we were driving Kay and Kayleigh around with us. Which we don't mind doing, it's just when you're with someone else things will take longer. Then James fell over in the shopping centre so he's been hurting on top of that.
Thankfully today I've had nothing to do outside of the house. Corey went to town to buy presents with his own money -- and man, this is the first year that's happened, he's growing so fast. James is supervising the bag pack, so I've been pottering. There's chicken cooking in the slow cooker, the dishwasher and washer are running, I've had a long, hot shower and now I'm trying to catch up online while watching a tv show about Christmas at Disney.
A few days back
teigh_corvus asked if I'd be sharing any pictures of my tree.
Our tree. Kayleigh described it like something a drag queen had thrown up on. I really don't know what she means....

And from a distance.

Every year we buy a new ornament. This is this years.

But it's also covered in home made stuff.

Cards, stockings, reindeer, glittery cones, santas, cat.

Captain Jack guards the advent calendars.

More cards and a different cat. We have three full strings now. People are awesome ♥

The other end of the room. My computer is back there. Sadly undecorated.

Apart from this. Showing how long it's taken for me to upload these.

Finally, we had a disaster and Voyager crash landed on the cottage. Or you know, a cat knocked it over. You decide.

Bandomstuffsit started posting today \o/ The question is, do I read those now or attempt to catch up on the wave ones, twos, gross bandom and sick Frank's I have left to read first?
Thank you

Date: 2011-12-23 07:47 pm (UTC)And yes, yours has feature wall status *g*
I know, right! I'm sure everyone would hire me to decorate their tree!

Date: 2011-12-23 06:23 pm (UTC)I want to hug your tree. It looks like it would give good hugs, comfy favorite relative ones. You know, if it had arms *to* hug.
I am very fond of your silver glitter trees, over by the fireplace. Is that a section of the glitter forest, with its very own unicorn guardian? Because that would rock.
*smishes, because I can*

Date: 2011-12-23 08:35 pm (UTC)I like how you describe my tree. I'm sure if it could hug it would head for you first of all.
\o/ Glitter forests ftw! I may have a glittery unicorn, a match to the glittery penguin. Really, if it glitters there's room for it in my place.

Date: 2011-12-24 08:01 am (UTC)I have two more cats that surprisingly didn't make the pictures. They're normally pushing their way into view *g*

Date: 2011-12-23 09:41 pm (UTC)Everything's taken longer for me too. I'm not completely finished yet actually. (Long story - the doctor's office messed up my latest pain meds prescription and it's been quite a struggle to get everything put right again. Very exhausting mentally and it's definitely not put me in a Christmasy mood. I'm feeling better now but I still haven't decorated the tree. My mother won't get here until half past three tomorrow afternoon so I should have plenty of time before that.)
I was going to ask about your tree but completely forgot about it. It's so glittery and fun! And I love your fireplace with the stockings and santas and, is that a glittery unicorn I spot?
You've gotten so many cards. How awesome! Getting cards is one of the things I love most about the holidays.

Date: 2011-12-24 08:04 am (UTC)It's not surprising you haven't felt Christmasy when you've been messed around like that. I'm glad you're feeling better, being in pain is the worst.
Yes it is! Somehow we've started to gather a collection of glittery animals, all very ridiculous but I love them.
Getting cards is the best. So much better than junk mail or bills.
