Mar. 2nd, 2012 02:43 pmSince my last post I did get my BRBB submitted. Hours before my midnight too. Which means that soon we'll have all the fic, and that I really need to get a move on and finish reading no_tags, random bandom and the last couple of stuffsit stories I have left tabbed, and all the non-challenge stories too.
We were out most of the day yesterday, going to two different supermarkets, out for dinner and to the hospital, and by the time I got home my foot was acting up so I was in bed and asleep before 9. Which was good as James is going to see the Muppets with his scout group tonight, so needed to go into work early in order to get out early. As we get up at 5am anyway I wasn't at all impressed when he told me. But it wasn't that bad, I'm used to the early starts now, it just means I go to bed earlier than I would naturally.
Hospital stuff. and good news. She was officially told it wasn't cancer, and while she still has a hole in her lung the inflammation that was there is gone. Her consultant wasn't at all happy she's started drinking again, and that's with her just telling how she's drinking sherry in the house. If he'd known about all the pub visits he'd have blown a fuse. But, a fungal infection and holes are much better than cancer, not that he knows how she got the infection, just saying it was just lifestyle related.
Waiting at the hospital meant I was able to finish reading Kitchen Confidential. Going into it I thought it would be like the tv series, but despite recognising things from the show, it's not at all really. It was still an enjoyable enough read though. I read that one on my Kindle, for actual books I'm working my way through A Storm of Swords. It's such a great series, I love it a lot.
Corey's opening a bank account today so I'm meeting him at the bank in just under an hour. Strike that, in half an hour. Which means I'd better get a move on.

Date: 2012-03-02 06:53 pm (UTC)It's good to hear that it isn't cancer but it really sucks that this means she's started drinking again. I don't think you were suprised at that though, right? Family, always such a trial!
A bank account! He really is growing up!

Date: 2012-03-03 09:33 am (UTC)She pretty much went back to drinking the day after being told it wasn't as bad as they initially thought. At this point it's back to the level it was pre-cancer scare. But like you said, it was no surprise that happened.
He has his own debit card now. No more having to order stuff for him online. He's really good at saving for what he wants but of course couldn't order himself before. Now he can.

Date: 2012-03-06 07:56 am (UTC)Also I'm relieved to hear it isn't cancer in your mom's case, even if the infection is no picnic either. I hope she may be moved to do more to help herself out, at some point.
Also I hope your foot feels better.
Also also homg BANK ACCOUNT! That's some serious stuff there!

Date: 2012-04-25 03:02 am (UTC)Funny, I read Kitchen Confidential pretty much when it came out. So I was a bit puzzled as to how that book was going to translate into a tv show. Wasn't too interested at first until I heard that Nicholas Brendon (who played Xander in Buffy) was going to be in it. Um, can't say that I liked the show though. /o\
Look at Corey being on his way to becoming a grown up.
(Late commenter Luce is a late commenter. \o?)

Date: 2012-05-18 06:46 pm (UTC)I liked the show but it really was a load different to the book. Going in to read the book I was expecting it to be like the show, and obviously it wasn't like that in the slightest.
As for late comments. I don't mind them in the slightest.
