Mar. 17th, 2012 09:49 amETA: Heart Wrapped in Clover. I read the F/M crossdressing story and it's all kinds of amazing. I haven't the words to explain how much I loved it and how I never wanted it to end. It was perfect, it addressed crossdressing in a way that I see it too. It was everything I've ever wanted in that kind of story.
Like many people I've been reading The Hunger Games. Yesterday I finished the last third of the book, went to bed and then read more A Storm of Swords. Man, I need to read something cheery today.
Though what I'm planning to read is more BRBB stories, top of that list the two recent Frank/Mikey stories, one of which contains crossdressing. Be still my heart *___________*
Something I've already read is Keep the Car Running by
inlovewithnight. Mikey/Gabe killjoys fic and so good. Seriously, I was sad when it ended because I'd become so caught up in their relationship and the world they lived in. It was just beautiful in so many ways.
I also posted my own BRBB which is also killjoys verse. The thing took some writing and after being stuck for a long time I emailed
teigh_corvus whining that I couldn't get Embers verse details out of my head to write another take on the idea, and she unstuck everything when she simply asked, well why don't you make it in that verse. So that's how I wrote it, the very start of the Embers verse Killjoys story. Though I do have to stress for those that know Embers verse is gsf the brbb is totally gen, there's no sexual feelings even hinted at. Well, except for Gerard and Korse, and maybe the group and James as
themoononastick is sure they went off and had sex after the scene broke.
It's also made me think about others in the verse too, how they got from where they are here to where they are later. It's fun thinking of their journey and having no intention of writing them out.
With the help of twitter encouragement I've been thinking about my horribly late random_bandom story. You may remember a choice was Mikey/Mikey, and somehow robot!Mikey has become involved, with him and real!Mikey going on to dom Gerard.
Other things discussed on twitter that should happen. The gangbang Mikeyway fest. Admittedly it would only draw a very small amount of interested people, but they'd be awesome people.
I like how LJ now puts subject headers into comment replies you receive in your email. Also the idea of the new spoiler cuts. Though I know for a fact I'll forget about them within a day or so.
James went off to do a ride along on an ambulance on Thursday. He's allowed to do that every so often and he loves it. He also loves telling me gross stories from his work. He sucks like that.
I planted beetroot seeds this week, and started to make plans for the garden. Soon our greenhouse will go back up and maybe this is the year we'll have a bumper crop of tomatoes. Third times the charm and all that. I was hanging the washing out yesterday and was very happy to see Tex's bush is starting to grow again. I thought it had died over winter as it was nothing but a few sticks, but now it's got buds and little yellow flowers.
And now to do laundry and then more catching up on here.

Oh. The crossdressing story was perfection. I still can't get over how much that I loved it.

I skipped the crossdressing story. I'm guessing I should give it a chance?

Date: 2012-03-17 02:21 pm (UTC)So curious now! You tease *g*
YES! Oh man, it's so good. Seriously so. It's beautiful, and the cross-dressing is done in this incredibly natural and believable way. It's not titillating at all, it's just part of Mikey and a part he struggles with but Frank is so great. So in love with Mikey always and there's funny parts with Gerard and Ray and Otter is a fully fleshed character and not just a cardboard cut out like many stories make him to be.
James phoned me twice while I was reading and I nearly hung up on him I was so into the story. Go read! If nothing else it's a gorgeous love story shown from Frank's side.

Gardening! I potted the pelargonium cuttings yesterday so now the bay window in my living room is full of tiny pelargoniums. Good luck with this year's crops!

Date: 2012-03-18 10:21 am (UTC)But the other stories are more how Pete and Patrick get from here to where they are in the main story. Or about Gabe the travelling medic. I think his story would be a lot of fun.
I think I'll work on that robot story this week. Get that done before diving into bbb completely.
Thank you. As I said on your post I'm very tempted to grow more flowers this year.

Date: 2012-04-25 03:41 am (UTC)Though I *do* have the Hunger Games in print bookform (well, only the first book--which I bought used for $1), I haven't read it because I haven't been in the mood to deal with the ultra-violence. OTOH, I'm curious to see the movie (which I've heard is pretty good). OTOH, I have to be, like I said before, ready to tackle a book that isn't particularly funny or quirky. It doesn't help, of course, that I've got several books in my TBR pile (not counting the fics). :)

Date: 2012-05-20 03:27 pm (UTC)I still haven't seen the Hunger Games movie, I suspect I probably won't until it comes out on DVD now. But yeah, it's very violent.
I have so many books to read, too. Not helped by having a Kindle now so when I see someone mention something interesting I download and shove it on there. Of course now it's a lucky dip as to what I end up reading as I can't remember what the books are about as there's so many.

Date: 2012-05-20 04:49 pm (UTC)Buying books (once you have an ereader) is SO ridiculous easy! That whole, click and download thing is a baaaaaad thing for my wallet. Most of the time, I stop myself from going on a buying frenzy (it has happened) by not buying books that are over $8 - 9 dollars as well as being aware of the word count. The latter is a result of reading epic length fic and being determined not to shell out money for a "book" that's only 15 to 40k words long. Call me old skool if you want, but, to me, novels have a word count of 90k+.
Overall, though, the majority of the books in my nook are fanfic. Right now, I have 560 books out of which only 70 are actual profic. \Fic/!

Date: 2012-05-20 06:00 pm (UTC)I read the Anita Blake books and even though they're pretty terrible at this point I have a full collection so I keep on buying them. Including the so called side books based on specific characters. The last one of those I bought took me all of an hour to read, and yet cost the same as a full book. It's not on >:(
