Well, it didn't take long for me to get behind on this meme.
Started the day the usual way, then when Corey got up he handed me a cardboard machete he'd made the night before and asked how to stop it flopping around as it had a weak point at a join. While he did his papers I strengthened with the help of cellotape, duct tape and a pencil.

Why was he making a machete? It was his last day at school before the Easter holidays and his year was having a leaving assembly where they could go in fancy dress. So he got dressed in the stuff we'd put together the night before -- and I was glad when he did so as he'd hung the clothes on the treadmill which is behind me, and they didn't smell the best. Anyway, this was the end result.

It was wheelie bin day, so I pulled the bin outside. As you can see it was another beautiful day. That's looking up the estate toward the hill and field that's at the top.

And this is the view from outside my back gate. That's the bridge they had closed off a few weeks back. The bank doesn't look that steep in the pictures but it's deceptive, especially as the council cut it away to a step drop half way down as kids used to sledge down the bank back in the day. Which of course is an incredibly dangerous thing to do.

The Co Op over the road. It's the only supermarket in our town and is small and expensive. Which is why we do our main grocery shopping elsewhere.

I peeled the potatoes for tea while finally watching the latest Once Upon a Time.

Then got the chicken ready, and oh man, those bags are so great. Put your meat in the bag that's provided, add seasoning and then bung in the oven, sorted. The wine is something James won at work, as none of us drink it it'll be yet another bottle of wine that's given away.

Then had a potato disaster. I make mashed potato all the time but somehow this time I ended up with potatoes that were too hard to mash. I must have poked the only ones that were actually cooked when I checked, while the rest weren't at all. Of course I only found that out after I'd drained them and added butter and milk. So, into a bowl they went to be nuked for a while.

While I made tea Corey had a nap with Milo.

The plant I got for mother's day. Sadly Pansy seems to think it's there as a cat snack, the poor thing was twice as big when I got it. Don't worry, I researched, it won't hurt her eating it. Also, I love spring but man, it shows up the fact the windows need a good clean.

Seedlings! The ones in the normal pots are beetroot, which are now planted out in the greenhouse.

Then I forgot to take any more photos for the rest of the day /o\
James was off so went off on our travels.

The stickers in the back of our car.

This is Monkey. We got him a few years ago in a teabag promotion and he's been travelling in our car ever since. In that time he's found a friend, got a lovely cat badge, and been turned into a vampire monkey.

We decided to go to the beach, and while we were there got dinner. Fish and chips for James.

And I got a chicken wrap from Subway.

It really was gorgeous there.

After that we headed off to Asda to get some stuff we needed for James' packed lunch for work. I don't have a camera phone so no pictures from inside.

While we were at Asda we got a phonecall from mam saying the chemist had refused to give over her tablets. Many phone calls later we eventually worked out what had actually happened -- and told mam that no, she wasn't going to go to the chemist and smash up the shop -- and called at the doctors to pick up her prescription.

While out we'd also gone to the garden centre and bought some plants, but I'd forgotten to take pictures of that, so have one of them planted out instead.

We also planted more seeds. Squint through the blur and you'll see James' planting salad leaves.

Then we had tea and James went to work and I had a bath/read/watched an epic of Suits, and totally forgot to take more photos.

Date: 2012-03-31 06:04 pm (UTC)Those beetroot seedlings look very eager to get outside!
I envy you living so close to such a glorious beach.
Pansies!!

Date: 2012-04-02 07:58 am (UTC)They were eager, and had started to perk up nicely after being transplanted into individual pots. Then today the weather changed big time and we have a snow warning. I think part of today will be spent bringing the seedlings inside :(
It really is a great beach. It's nice to be able to go hang out there again.

Date: 2012-05-15 01:16 pm (UTC)I'm just about to go put the seedlings in the garden. It's been so wet and windy here that it's the first chance I've had to do so. Watch I'll step foot outside and it'll rain again.
