turpsThe funeral went as well as good be expected for such things. Despite going to both the church and the crem which is about a ten minute drive away, everything was done within and hour and a half. In that time we nearly cut up the hearse at the corner to the church as we were late and my brother wanted to get there before the hearse pulled up -- it didn't happen, all we got was a very sour look from the driver. Found a parking spot and managed to get to the church before the coffin went in, but had to walk in with the friends, then walk up front to sit at the family pews.
Got lost going to the crem and ended up in a cemetery, at the crem itself nanna nearly caused me to burst out laughing during the quiet period of reflection by loudly asking 'what's the point of this?' when they had piano music playing and people were supposed to be remembering Margaret. Then introducing me and my brother to some distant relatives/friends she went, this is my big grandson and my small granddaughter, complete with a little laugh, and really, thank you nanna.
It was okay, though. I don't get to spend enough one on one time with my brother so I enjoyed driving there and back with him.
James is travelling back from France now and will be back home about midday tomorrow, so I have one last night of quiet. I may spend it with my bff TV, just one last night of chilling out together. Before that I may write something as I started a new file. Not anything exciting, the story where absolutely nothing happens, but I'm enjoying thinking about it.
Ha, strike that, it's now Saturday morning and I did exactly that, watched some TV. Including Teen Wolf in which Stiles and Lydia remain awesome, Derek broody mc brood and Scott as stupid as a sack full of bricks, so all is well in the Teen Wolf world. I really love the credits, too.
Something else that happened yesterday. For some reason thunderbird redownloaded every single email I've received since 2008. After working hard to get my in-box to under 50 it's now at 6k plus. Thankfully it was just emails as if it were lj comment replies too it would be ten times that amount. As it is I need to sort out that mess at some point. A nice thing was the period it downloaded from was when I was first getting to know Arsenic and planning/getting the first tints verse story beta read, so it was lovely to revisit those things.
Final thing from yesterday, My Chem's acceptance speech for best international band and their interview with Tony Hawk. So much awesome and it was fantastic to see them again.
This morning I got A Dance With Dragons and A Feast For Crows delivered from Amazon, which was really great service as they weren't due until Tuesday. I'm looking forward to getting lost in that world again, it's been a while since I've sat reading and wanted to go Nooooooooo! WHY?! I know loads of people have read them, so no spoilers please.
Right, breakfast now. Crumpets and coffee I think, and watching the cats take turns to sit in the book box.
