I submitted my wave 3 bbb last night. I honestly didn't think I'd make it, especially so as a few days ago I had only a few k of a story that wasn't gripping me at all. In fact, I woke up on Thursday and told myself I was just going to drop out. Then somehow wrote over 6k that day and the rest last night. Everyone who knows about the story has commented about the main pairing, something I understand totally because really, the hell?
It's insane to think that claiming day is today. It feels like this bbb season is rushing by so fast, and of course I still have many stories to read from wave 1.and brbb & a few from no tags
Yesterday I also painted two walls of my bedroom. There's an advert running here at the moment for a paint brand and it shows people looking at their newly painted rooms and going, 'I did that' and I can relate so much. It's not finished as I need to move the bed to get the last two walls done, but the main window wall and the end with the bookcases. They're done, and they look so good. Maybe not perfect and I'm sure a professional would laugh at some of the finish, but it's so beautifully sunny in there now. And my books are back where they belong and as soon as I get them ironed my curtains can go back up and just. I did that :D
While twitter has it's negative side I love it for immediate reactions. Like the last week when people have been cheering for every story submitted and encouraging those who're still writing. And like when Mikey tweeted along with a photo -- which remains all kinds of amazing -- and for nearly half an hour my feed was a variation of MIIIIIIIIIIKEY!!!!!!! Fans are the best ♥
There's actual sun today, I can look out the window and see blue sky. Which is great for the garden as things are growing but not actually flowering still. Hopefully this sunshine will stick and I can start harvesting soon. Though James did pull some beetroot, boiled them ready for pickling, and forget about them and burnt all the beets plus pan. So, first harvest of the season not that successful.
Corey went to two open days at his new college ( over here college is the period between leaving secondary school and maybe university. He'll be there for two years doing A levels ) It was intended to be a taster of what college will be like, so he did maths, science and computer classes and wandered up into Durham city centre to have dinner with his friends. I had to laugh in the morning as it reminded me of the first time he went to school, where I made sure he was tidy and brushed his hair. Except, this time I was faced with a 6 footer in band shirt and skinny jeans who wanted me to help put his hair back up into a mohawk. Between us we managed, but man, I'd rather just brush his hair than use a combo of products, straighteners and hair drier any day.
James has taken Kay and Kay to a wedding and then is going to the airshow for the afternoon, so I'm going to hang online until I can put out the washing and then go finish my bedroom. Catching up on LJ/DW should happen tonight, and then all the late comments will be mine.

Date: 2012-07-21 10:28 am (UTC)Painting is such a quick and easy way of brightening a room! I'm glad you feel proud- you should for doing all that hard work!
Fans are the best. Except when they are the worst, ahahaha.

Date: 2012-07-22 11:44 am (UTC)I agree, a fresh coat of paint does wonders. Pity all the prep work needs to be done first. The hallway/stairs/landing badly need doing next but that means scraping the wallpaper off first as the cats keep scraping off the raised pattern. A job for next week maybe *g*
Yep, I totally agree. You know as awesome as some are being others are out there being idiots. Such is fandom.

Date: 2012-07-22 11:40 am (UTC)It's not you at all. I have a huge back up of stories to read, not helped that it's easier to quickly read shorter stories so the ones that build up tend to be really long. Not that it's a bad problem to have, just, I want to read them all now!
Hee. That's an awesome comment right there. I'm glad you enjoyed ♥

Date: 2012-07-21 05:25 pm (UTC)Both writing AND painting a lot the same week, you're so energetic! Isn't it wonderful to be able to look at something you've done yourself and be happy about it?! Best feeling in the world!
Tsk, tsk, how very careless of James! The poor little beets, all burnt to cinders. I hope you'll get some sunshine soon - and that we'll get some too. It seems like Britain and Sweden is cursed with the same boring weather this summer.
*snicker* Your little boy is all grown up!
I hope you managed to get everything done that needed doing.

Date: 2012-07-22 11:35 am (UTC)I have been feeling energetic, so figured I'd make use of that and actually get things done. Sadly I ran out of paint yesterday, but did managed to get behind the bed done first so it means no more moving furniture. And yeah, the feeling of satisfaction is so great.
The poor beets looked nothing like beets by the time they were scraped out of the pan :( Thankfully more are growing, plus, we have more sun today. I'm hoping it's the start of a nice sunny spell, and that you get one too.
He is, hopefully next stop is learning to do his hair himself *g*

Date: 2012-07-23 03:28 am (UTC)I ended up submitting my Wave 3 something like 5 minutes before the deadline...after writing all night. And then I slept a few hours because I wanted to see about the mix and art claiming (I signed up for both). It's kinda wild that we're already into Wave 3. Or, maybe, it seems really fast for me since my Wave 1 posting date fell on the last week of that round?
Right now, I have 5 more BBBs to read. I think part of what helped me not fall too behind was the fact that so many people posted their fics on AO3. So it was only a matter of dl it to my ereader and presto! There have been some really good fic (including yours, luv).
ION, the appeal of doing home repair/renovations on your own is so awesome! Bravo for the new look of your room. :)
Mikeyway tweeting was, like, the BEST THING EVER! OMG!
Aww, Corey with his mowhawk. ^_^

Date: 2012-07-28 07:54 pm (UTC)I think the BBB season has moved at a breakneck speed this year. I'm not even sure why as I don't listen to podfic, so wave 2 mainly passed me by. But, way to go you on submitting, you're all kinds of awesome!
I have so many left to read. It didn't help that the one I'm reading now is 70k plus, so that combined with being busy has meant the others have been left to one side. Something I intend to remedy soon. Also, ♥, thank you.
Thank you again. I love the look of my room now, and it's so satisfying to know I've done it myself.
Yes it was!

Date: 2012-07-28 05:35 pm (UTC)I really am proud of him, especially so as I've no idea where this interest and love of maths and science comes from.
