Jul. 27th, 2012 07:46 amAfter apparently reaching the end of its productive life, our gas meter was changed yesterday morning. This was after they gave us a 8am - 8pm time slot on Tuesday and by 8 that day still no one had arrived. A phone call and we were told someone had been but hadn't been able to access the house. Which, lies, all the windows were open & you can't get to our front door without passing them, plus they said a card had been posted through our letterbox, which was a lie too.
Anyway, just after the meter guy had gone, the tumbler still in the hall and stuff everywhere, the man came to sort out the router for James' home office. Sent him upstairs just as someone knocked on the back door, it was the plumber coming to fix a leak from the outside tap we had fitted Wednesday. I got a bit frazzled there, when the computer guy was asking about stuff I had no idea about -- also having a huge reaction to the cats, he hadn't known it was a home visit and was really allergic -- while the plumber turned off the water while he went to get parts.
It all got sorted in the end, but man, I'm sure James has blinkers sometimes. We got more paint yesterday so when he got back -- because he'd taken my sister to her scooter driving test and then decided to look at cars after -- he asked if we were going to decorate. While the downstairs of the house looked like a bomb had gone off. If you imagined my face looked a bit like this >:( you'd have been right.
On the positive side, we have a working outside tap and hosepipe. No more lugging watering cans around. Also, our bedroom is now painted as we did actually go paint in the end. It looks really nice too, all the penguin Pete prints are back up and the curtains. No carpet at the moment but we've a mat that will do instead, though James has insisted he wants the old underlay left at the bottom of the bed so he doesn't hurt his knees going to bed. I think I'll buy him a small mat for there, it'll look better.
While painting James casually mentioned that Kay wanted to read my fic. D: Because she's really into 50 Shades of Grey at the moment and he told her that's the kind of stuff that I write D: I just, why? WHY?! I briefly considered giving her the link to my AO3 stories but that links to LJ and more than that, I don't really want to share my writing with people who probably won't get it. Plus, Kay would give the link to Kayleigh and yeah. No.
I haven't had time for much writing the last few days but I'm feeling much happier about my bbb wave 3, and after some enabling from
teigh_corvus I'm also writing sort of waycestey implied gsf wing fic to fill a prompt at h/c bingo. It's a nice contrast to the wave 3 and as I intend keeping the h/c bingo things short, should be done soon.
Demonid is still down. It's been two days now, come back to me torrent site of awesome. I miss you.

Date: 2012-07-27 01:21 pm (UTC)Hahhh, oh god, family wanting to read your fic. /o\ I would share with my sister if she asked, probably, though I'd choose judiciously, but she already kinda knows about pretty much everything I get up to online, including the waycest stuff. If you choose to share, I really suggest emailing her a file instead of linking to eeeeeeverything.
The word "tumbler" just looks wrong now. Dammit, Internet, why are you like this?
I'm also writing sort of waycestey implied gsf wing fic

Date: 2012-07-28 03:12 pm (UTC)Family wanting to read your fic is the worst. They both knew I write but this is the first time she's actually came out and asked for a link. It threw me big time. It's been suggested I just share a link to AO3 and tell her to go look around and have fun. Which sounds good to me.
Ahahaha, yeah, I had to rewrite tumblr to tumbler. Stupid internet.

Definitely. Maybe just give her a link to AO3 itself and tell her to have fun? How likely is it that she'd choose your fandoms?
\o/ Wave 3 and wingfic!

Date: 2012-07-28 03:08 pm (UTC)It's very unlikely she'll chose my fandoms, especially as the only ones I've uploaded are the rps ones. So yeah, good idea.
Wingfic is done, shame wave three isn't /o\

Date: 2012-07-27 07:32 pm (UTC)I completely understand not wanting people who won't get it reading your stories. You should do what Anna said over on LJ. That way she'll get some quality reading and you'll have your privacy intact.
That's good to hear about your wave three story and yay! for waycest wing fic! Good luck with both stories.

Date: 2012-07-28 02:51 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm going to link her to Anna's site. That way I know it's good stuff and she's not having to deal with reading fic about bands she knows. Or stuff that I wrote because that still weirds me out.
I've finished my wingfic, just waiting on an opinion from T. So more \o/
If only it was the wave three that was done *g*
