I about lost a year off my life earlier when I heard the front door rattle. There's only me in the house, but I figured it was someone coming in because none of my family knock. But no one did, so I went to check and the door was barely open, just bumping in the wind. After the initial 'oh god, there's someone in the house!' reaction, I realised it mustn't have shut properly when I closed it earlier. Thankfully, all cats were found, but they so easily could have got out.

I got my stuffsit assignment this morning, and am very happy with it. I've got an idea I've ran past various people and think I'll be good to go soon. I just need to ponder on some last details.

I really do like being on twitter when challenges like this happen. Seeing people react to opening their emails and the careful comments in case the person you've been assigned is someone you're talking to. Not that you'll know as it's a double blind exchange.

This afternoon I read Oh Baby Let Me In by alpheratz. It's the second story in her numb!Mikey series, is Mikey/Pete/Gerard, and all kinds of amazing and hot. I highly recommend it.

James is doing a ride along on the ambulance again today. Though he got a bit eager and went in an hour early. He really does enjoy these days observing. It's just a shame his disability means he could never actually do the job.

Now I'm off to read a few more tabs before the kidlet comes in.

I'm glad to see people being a little careful about stuffsit, because we'll find out two months from now. :D I, for one, have a pretty good guess as to who my recipient is, so I'm going to be veeeery quiet on twitter. That said, I am SO HAPPY with my assignment. The only problem is deciding which of the pairings to write.

I've been enjoying twitter today. All the emails going around and offers of help from people not in the challenge. I'm glad you like your prompt, too.

It's an amazing story. I love that series a lot, even if I do shiver thinking what poor Mikey goes through.

Ack!! I'm very glad to hear all the kitties are safe inside. It's one of my worst nightmares that Lancecat would get lost outside. *shudder* I hope you're very careful about closing your door properly after this! *tries to look stern*

Don't worry, I'm going to be extra careful with the door. I've got friends who have lost cats recently, and it's heartbreaking.

Oh man, that sounds super unnerving. It reminds me of when I'm alone at our house, on the top floor, and I hear something downstairs and it is NOT my dog because my dog is with me. Upstairs. I always tell myself it's just the wind, but ahh. /o\

Gah, yeah. I hate hearing noises you can't place. That's where lots of cats come in handy, you can always blame one of them.

Yikes, I bet your heart went all KABOOOM for a moment there. DD: The one time I've ever gotten freaked out by the wind was during a hurricane where I (very unwisely) decided to stay at my then first floor apartment rather than go and stay with family elsewhere.

In the end, we ended up getting the very outer band of the hurricane. I can tell you that the wind was so strong I thought it was going to knock my door down for reals.

My stuffsit assignment is pretty neat. Can't say much about it just in case (though I know I didn't get akamine_chan nor you.)

It was scary and extremely stupid. I lucked out in that I only lost power for a day and got very minor flooding (like 2 inches in the living room).

I knowwwwww! At first, I thought I'd gotten you but, nope, it's not. My recipient is game for a lot of things I write so, yays?
