Dec. 18th, 2012 06:00 pmThank you
spasticat,
bettina and
omens for the cards. ♥
Today was a day for cleaning the house, waiting for parcels, and reading a fic or two.
Yesterday was another day of shopping. Though not successful. We put in a click and collect order for HMV, got to the store and despite the site saying they had the DVD we wanted, it wasn't actually there. We were also supposed to get two poster frames as part of Corey's presents, but as Kay and Kay asked to come along, there was no room to get them in the car. Thankfully James is off tomorrow and Thursday, so we'll get them then.
Kay and Kay also had an argument that ended with them coming back to the car and waiting while we nipped into HMV, and man, I hate when that happens. The atmosphere is always horrible. I think they're getting stressed about cooking Christmas dinner. They're hosting Kay's parents, and it's the first time they've cooked the full dinner, so want everything to be perfect
While we were out we found out mam had been put on pub watch, which means from the first week of next year she's banned from every pub in our local town. It's an official thing where your picture is put on the wall of all the pubs and the police come out with the notice. I have no idea how this is going to play out. I'm not surprised it's happened, what she says and does when she's been drinking is ridiculous, but I'm not holding out hopes that she'll stop, especially as she drinks in the house anyway.
James pretty much has the worst shifts he could get over Christmas, working days, 7-7 on Christmas eve, Christmas day, boxing day and the day after. Add in commute time and it means he'll be gone for nearly all of each of those days. He's been trying for a swap as he has all of New Year off, but no go, except for the 27th he managed to swap with someone. So he said to me that we should have a roast dinner that day too, and my initial reaction was, oh hell no. I'll already be making the full roast dinner on Christmas day, and then the boxing day buffet. The thought of having to cook a full elaborate meal again the next day is just.... again, oh hell no. I do get why he suggested it, but even without the work involved, eating so much over 3 days makes me want to back away slowly. The days after boxing day are for eating leftovers, not cooking more stuff.
All expected parcels are now here, and the BT man has until 6 before I give up on waiting for him and go in the bath. I tell you, I've seen that guy so often these last few months I should write him a Christmas card.
And now it is 6, so I'm going to assume he's not coming.
