Jan. 23rd, 2013 02:08 pmIt was the no_tags reveals a few days ago, so I can reveal I wrote An Almost There Connection, the Frank/Gerard accidental exhibitionism on tour story. The fact I wrote it was guessed by no one, which is unsurprising as in all my time in bandom it's only the second time I've written an actual plotted out and beta read F/G. The first time was for no tags, too. I had no intentions of grabbing that pairing but after stuffsit, which was weeks worth of careful writing and dealing with emotions, I wanted something quick, easy and fun, and that prompt seemed to fit the bill.
But man, as always there was frustration posting. In years past I've always managed to post at the ficlet fairy journal instead of the comm. This year I didn't do that, but when I was pressing the preview post thing, each time it was saying that I was posting as turps. I knew I wasn't. I was logged in as ficlet fairy, but despite knowing that I sat and stared at that preview post for ages. So I went and loaded up chrome to see if it was some weird firefox thing going on, but nope. Previewing as turps there too. At this point I was more than a little frustrated and imagining myself as the first idiot to post to the challenge under my own user name. In the end I just had to go for it and press post, heart thumping like crazy and getting ready to delete if the worst happened. Thankfully it didn't.
So yeah, that was me. If you want to read, the story is up at AO3 now.
Rec wise, no_tags was amazing this year. There are so many great stories, but the two that stand out to me are Lucky Graveyard Boots (and a song to sing) which is the Alicia Way retired demon hunter story and is your button fly a metaphor which is Pete/Mikey SoL. Both are incredible.
I've also signed for Waysplusone, because the Ways plus another is always a very beautiful thing. Now I just need to decide on my plus one.
It's snowing again today, in fact, it's been snowing on and off for days now. Corey got an unexpected day off from college yesterday due to severe weather that closed the site. He was hoping for another one today, but it wasn't to be. James is still in his weird sleeping patterns. He goes to bed with me but then stays up for ages playing on his iPad. i had to laugh last night, we'd gone to bed and James' loaded twitter on his iPad so I'd be able to check the college twitter to see if it was open again this morning. After doing that he started to read his account, which he hardly ever uses, and got to my tweets and asked, what does diaganal slash zero diaganol slash mean? Is it an arsehole? So I'm lying there already half asleep trying to work out what he's talking about and then it clicked he meant victory arms. An arsehole, really.
I did have fun on that twitter session though. I was watching MCR v FOB on MTV rocks and it's always good when you're watching stuff along with other people. Many comments were made about Pete being hot in the videos, with a nice side step to talk about Pete/Mikey and bass licking. I resisted the urge to go watch What a Catch after though. Pete going down with his ship. Sadness always.
Anyway, before I go, James took a few photos when the snow first started.

Forgot to say, I'm enjoying the Comic Relief Celeb specials of The Great British Bake Off so much. I've missed Mary, Paul and their soggy bottoms.

Oh, also, that picture's great! (My mum thought so, too, hee. She stopped by the computer and was all "oh, where's this?") Snow! Lovely. :D

I still need to repost mine.

Date: 2013-01-23 06:05 pm (UTC)I thought everything was set, my story ready early, all ready to post. Then that happened.
I figured I should do something productive today. I'm sure yours will be up soon.

Date: 2013-01-23 06:09 pm (UTC)Toro baby <333333 As soon as I got online I knew something had happened. The happiness for them was so lovely.
I love the blurred lights of the pic. It's a shame about the lamppost right in the middle, but it can't really be moved.

Date: 2013-01-23 06:15 pm (UTC)That's so strange about your posting woes. I use the nexticon_mod journal to post with sometimes and hitherto I've managed to not fuck up anything. *keeps fingers crossed*
I think you've forgotten to add the URL to the Wayplusone link because clicking it just brings you back to this post.
But snow makes everything so much lighter and prettier. You should be enjoying it! :-)
Arsehole??!! James has a very strange imagination!

Date: 2013-01-23 06:23 pm (UTC)If it wasn't for the preview screen showing my own user name I'd have posted really easily. I don't know what was up with it, but it was very frustrating.
Aha. You're right. An actual link would help.
It does make things pretty but getting around is so much harder. Of course it would help if the pavements and roads were cleared.
He does. He's weird sometimes.

Date: 2013-01-23 07:32 pm (UTC)Winter. /o\
It is officially the time of year that I want to move to Vegas, or someplace with NO SNOW AND COLD. >__<
I am completely confused by the geographic layout of your home. But I like how very speedy this picture is. :)

Date: 2013-01-23 08:21 pm (UTC)Speaking of posting, I haven't posted MWD to my own journal in awhile. I'm calling it now- I'm totally due.
I love James. An arsehole, ahahaha!

Date: 2013-01-24 10:22 am (UTC)*giggles* an arsehole?! *tilts head* ... nope, still don't see it. (though it makes me wonder what non-fannish people think I'm saying when I use that emoticon...)
What's this about a Toro baby?! Goodness me, I'm so out of the loop recently!
Wow, that's a lot of snow for England! O_O I hope you get your usual snowless winter back soon!

Date: 2013-01-27 08:29 am (UTC)That's a lovely picture of the snow, as long as one doesn't have to be out in it. Hope it doesn't cause you too much bother!

As I'm the worst and replying so late you probably know all about Toro baby now.
There is no snow now!

My house is on a hill. You walk out of the back gate and there's the width of the path, then railings, then a steep hill down to the road below. Beyond that road is the carpark of the local supermarket, handy if you're the kidlet who jumps the fence with ease.

Date: 2013-02-25 04:41 am (UTC)I've yet to read your fic (got somehow derailed from the no_tags fics) though I've got it tabinated. Would have NEVER though it was you picking up that prompt though. I guess you're forever associated with all things Mikeyway in my brain (just like Turlough is pretty much soulbonded with all things Gerard. Hee!)

Date: 2013-04-15 05:01 pm (UTC)Lol. Yeah. I don't think anyone guessed it was me writing that story. I do read and write Frank/Gerard, but very occasionally. It's not really a pairing that works for me, but not enough I actually dislike it.
