Mar. 1st, 2013 01:30 pmJames went back to work on Wednesday, and so far, despite him being really anxious on Tuesday, it's going well. His work have been great, and he's going back gradually, doing three days at 9-5 this week. Then next week he'll do three days 9-7, before going back to his 12 hour shifts the week after. At that point he's moving onto new shift patterns that are three on, three off, alternating nights and days. They've also said if his leg acts up and he ends up in his wheelchair again, someone will meet him at work and push him in so he can still work. Which is really decent of them. Of course the best thing in that situation would be home working, but surprise surprise, the line that was previously working has now stopped doing so.
That first night after he went back we were going to bed and he told me to make sure the press studs on the quilt were at the bottom of the bed as they'd had a mailing at work to say someone died due to strangulation after getting their head stuck inside the quilt cover while sleeping. So there you go, first day and I was already told about an unusual death.
Nearly three weeks on and Mam and Kayleigh are still not talking, and after a bust up on Wednesday, I don't think my brother is talking to her either. Mam just called in and as she was leaving said if Kayleigh sends her a mother's day card she's going to rip it up. Which, lovely. Typically, despite living down the street from her, it's not often mam calls into mine, but today she did, when I still had the delivery from the Bodyshop out in the open, stuff that included her mother's day gift.
To get back into the hang of things I've been writing a response to a prompt at bandom meme. It feels good to do so, now I just need to finish and post.
I really enjoyed Mikey's interview, and remain taken with the last question where he says sparkle bass is his badge of honour, weapon of choice, and good luck charm. It's something that made me think of some kind of superhero AU that involved instruments as weapons. Though how drums could be included I'm not sure. Maybe mini ones that could be thrown out much like Gambit's cards?
I have many emails and comments to reply to. I'm getting to them, promise. In fact, will do some now while waiting for the cat litter to be delivered. Though a coffee first I think, it's a little chilly today, but not enough to put on the heating just yet.

Date: 2013-03-01 05:52 pm (UTC)You'd think so. All I can guess is it was one of those million to one accidents which maybe included someone having their head stuck in the covers, the edges tight around their neck, lying on their front and no doubt having some on-going breathing issues anyway.
Whatever it was, I'm not worrying about it *g*

Date: 2013-03-01 09:43 pm (UTC)You're writing, yay!
That was a nice Mikey interview. In addition to the other things people have suggested for drum weapons, if your enemies are vampires drumsticks are the perfect weapon!

Yay for writing, though! Go you!
And hee, that's such a great description. It kind of makes me think of the instrument as something like a witch's familiar. though that's a different kind of weapon.

Date: 2013-03-02 07:59 pm (UTC)I'm sorry about the family drama, T. *hugs*
Yays for writing! I'm slowly-but-steadily making my way back to writing fic after an almost 2 and a 1/2 month writing sabbatical. :)
Mikeyway's part magpie. At least, that's what I understand as far as his love for shiny things. Hee! It was a great interview, really. Much as I love Mikeyway for being hot, my glasses do get all fogged up when I hear/read him talking about his music gear. #competencekinkFTW!
I'm feeling slightly guilty for sending you so many comments in such a short time. /o\! Better to comment than to be in radio silence, right? Hope your coffee warmed you up. :D!

Date: 2013-03-08 12:51 pm (UTC)That is an excellent way to use the drums as weapons!
Actually, you just reminded me. One of the Backstreet Boys videos is a parody of a rock video, and electricity shoots out of the end of Kevin's guitar, and makes the t-shirt of some fans vanish. Not so much a weapon, though *g*

Date: 2013-03-08 02:10 pm (UTC)There's always family drama around these parts. Thankfully I've pretty much learned to not let it affect me now, because there's not a thing I can do to fix things.
Sometimes writing sabbaticals are just what we need. I'm glad you're out of yours, too.
Mikey the magpie, I like it *g*
I really did enjoy the interview, and like you, like when he talks about how he plays and his gear. It's so obvious that he loves what he does, and is constantly trying to improve, which I think is fantastic.
Dude, no need to be guilty. I always enjoy your comments, whenever they appear ♥

Date: 2013-03-10 09:46 am (UTC)Drama. You'd think it would end at some point.

A different weapon, but still cool.

Date: 2013-03-10 10:01 am (UTC)What this is showing is that the drums would make excellent weapons, in many ways.
