Mar. 29th, 2013 07:52 amJames is on another observation day today. He gets to ride on an ambulance for a full shift, and is something he really loves to do. Though he managed to leave his phone at home, so no 997702 calls from him today.
So, catch up.
Yesterday we were shopping at Asda. We'd gone to get some chocolate eggs, and it was chaos. Seriously, I took a trolley to the side and ass a few times as people scrambled to get at the eggs. Then, while there we got an incoherent phone call from Kayleigh to say Kay had lost the plot and was smashing the house up and could we go and get her. So we put back our eggs, got out of the shop, got to Kayleigh and Kay's house, where Kay came storming out and started yelling in the middle of the street how we'd turn up when things got bad but never any other time. So James started yelling back and Kayleigh was crying, saying she wanted to leave but Kay wouldn't let her get her stuff. Good times, man. Good times.
In the end Kayleigh's friend took her away for a drive, and later James got a text from Kay saying sorry and she was going to get help with her anger issues. So I assume they've sorted things out. I hope she does get help, because she does have a quick fire temper.
You may remember I mentioned how Kayleigh's bff's dad found out he had cancer a few weeks ago. Earlier this week he died. We got a call from Leanne -- the bff -- saying the whole family had been called into the hospital, and could James drive her in. So he did, and two minutes after she got there her dad died. It's such a shock, going from being healthy, to being told he had cancer but the kind that had a 70% rate of survival, to a week after that, even before any treatment, he collapsed and then died. Kayleigh is gutted, as she sees him as a father figure, and of course, so is the whole family. They're the closest family I know, parents still together, four daughters who visit the family house always, now the heart of the family has been ripped out.
Good things. My dad gave my brother money to fix his car, and as he always treats us equal, came to visit and gave me an envelope with the same amount of money. Which was very unexpected and also very welcome. We went and bought a new tv. I've been saving up on Amazon for one, using my survey and swag bucks vouchers, but was only half way to total, so the money meant we could just go out and buy from a shop. Now our old tv is in our bedroom as it's perfectly watchable, but has a screen burn that shows up badly when lighter scenes are on screen. Now we just need to find a place to put it because it's so much bigger than the portable we have up there at the moment.
By buying the tv that way I could use my Amazon vouchers on other things. Most are staying for Christmas but I did buy a fountain for the cats and a box of coffee pods for the machine.
Then yesterday mam gave me money to buy a new shower as ours has been broken for months. She said it's our Easter present, so that's good. Now we just have to find someone qualified to fit it. Just after mother's day she also gave me this top of the range constant steam iron, which was a total surprise. Nothing I actually needed, but with her not talking to Kayleigh she's not helping her financially, so I guess she's got money to spare and decided I needed a present.
The weather remains bad, cold and snowy, which means all our planting plans are shot. It's far too cold to plant anything yet, and that sucks. By now the greenhouse should be back up and seedlings planted.
In brief fannish news. I'm watching Vikings and enjoying it a lot, and am also enjoying Gerard on twitter. Saying no packages to his mailbox is a very sensible decision, and I'd say I hope he knows what he's letting himself in for, but this is the man who asked for Mikey artwork, and surely got it. I still wonder what he did with those, wallpapered a room I suspect, because sometimes you're just hit with the urge to stare at a room full of art of your bro.
Also, as Corey is on Easter holidays and James late shifts when he's at work, from today no more alarms need to be set for a week. All the lie-ins will be mine.
