More Aquabats photos have been posted, and I am sensing a theme.
Fist! Also, how so hot Mikey Way? Look at that face!

Previously seen fist!

A fist from a while back.

And of course, this fist classic.

The conclusion to this must be more fisting fic needs to be written. Yes.
Also, there needs to be many fists made in the actual episode.
Not a fist, just very pretty.

As is this picture that Gerard posted last night. Bros getting fitted for clothes. Gerard was dressing Mikey y/y?.

Talking of Gerard. I liked his reply about fanfic from a few days ago.
Rebecca @rebeccaextra96 -- @gerardway i know u don't approve of fan fiction but some it is so impressively well written-- it should be encouraged as a creative outlet.
ジェラールド ジェラールド @gerardway -- @rebeccaextra96 I think fan fiction is great- the point is it is fiction (has it as part of the phrase in fact)
And the pictures of him on his hike. I love that he's so comfortable in his skin he can wear something like that. It's why I don't get the people who are mad at him for changing. Be sad the band is over, sure, but to be mad at Gerard for not being the person he was. That makes no sense to me.

No, it was Gerard. Mum could see the resemblance, too. More like Brother of ten years ago or more (time of ratty t-shirts) ...
BUT I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY RESEMBLANCE AT ALL, OKAY?!?!

Date: 2013-06-29 12:58 pm (UTC)I have a brother too. So I get it. I'd hate for him to resemble someone in one of my favourite bands/fandoms.

Date: 2013-06-29 11:47 am (UTC)This. We are being afforded a glimpse of Gerard we would have never seen if the band were still going. Do I miss the band? Sure. Do I wish the band had never broken up? Of course. But the reason they mean so much to me is as much who they are as their music. So a door closes but a window opens and I don't want to miss a thing.
Thanks for sharing that, Turps. Love you.
Also, I fucking miss that shirt.

Date: 2013-06-29 12:57 pm (UTC)Exactly. I miss the band terribly too, but watching them all go off and live their lives is so great. I love that Gerard finally has time to go hiking, and spend time with his wife and kid. He always looks like he's having a blast in this new stage of his life, and I'm thrilled we get to see some part of it.
Love you, too. I'm so glad you ended in this fandom ♥
That shirt was amazing. Looks like Gerard likes it too *g*

Date: 2013-06-29 12:54 pm (UTC)So soon! Mikey better shake his fist at the screen and talk with his gravelly voice.

Date: 2013-06-29 01:26 pm (UTC)And, ahahaha, Gerard! I hope you don't get a weird sunburn through the threads of your almost!shirt. And that you enjoyed your hike, you goober.

Date: 2013-06-29 02:08 pm (UTC)That would be a weird sunburn. I also wonder if it started that torn up when he started his hike, because that thing is more poncho than t-shirt at that point *g*

Date: 2013-06-29 05:20 pm (UTC)I really like Gerard's fanfic answer. (I'm going to have A LOT of twitter catching up when I get home I suspect :-)
Awwwww, Gerard is adorble in that old shirt being all outdoorsy!

Date: 2013-06-29 05:36 pm (UTC)Gerard has been great on twitter recently, he's just been live tweeting aquabats while watching with Bandit.
I love that he's wearing that shirt. Though whether it's worthy of that name I'm not actually sure.

Date: 2013-07-01 03:41 am (UTC)Unfortch, I've been unable to watch the Mikeyway Aquabats episode (yet). My timeline's reaction to it, however, made me happy. Everyone seemed to like it. :D!
It's been great seeing Gerard push back against the negativity that some 'fans' have thrown his way. There was a recent skirmish a couple of days ago when he asked the person why were they following him. The person never replied and Gerard moved on instead of trying to reason with them. I know that some people might not like him and that's fine, but attacking him for no reason other than his (minor) celebrity status is absolutely bonkers. [By 'minor' celebrity status I mean that, even though he and his band have filled stadiums and have had videos shown on MTV, there are tons of people who don't know who he is. I'd go as far as saying that he's barely at the lowest rung of the celebrity echelon. But I digress...]
It's why I don't get the people who are mad at him for changing.
I really thing that some fans think of Gerard and co. the same way they think about actually!fictional characters. In that, they get imprinted for Revenge!era or TBP and can't accept that the guys are different, that they're evolving--since that's what most people do when they grow up/grow past a certain age.
So these fans begin to resent Gerard and co. Mostly because their perception of Gerard and co. is so ingrained that it would take some type of change within themselves. And either they're not ready or they don't want to deal with whatever. Therefore, they take it out against a 'target' that can't fight back.
That is why I like how assertive Gerard is. He'll play around and be dorky and what not, but he's no softie either. Same goes for Mikeyway, btw. I might eyeroll a bit when I see him baby-talking with Sarah in his timeline. Though, that's because I find that kind of behaviour somewhat mottsy offline/in RL. I'm happy our Mikeyway feels good nowadays and I'm glad to see him around. If that means having to scroll past his baby-talking Sarah so be it, I guess. *hands*
MOVING ON. You know, just this past weekend, Ande, Aka,
Our collective theory is that either Lindsey or their housemaid keeps throwing it out (because, let's face it, chances are it looks like a rag at this point.) But then, somehow, Gerard manages to save it from being trashed time and time again. O_o! Regardless, I really dig his ridic barely-there-t-shirt + 1980s red bandana + short-shorts look. Hee!
NGL, a rather vicious and strong plot bunny bit me when I saw that Waybros Killjoys fitting photo. It's gotten to the point that I even DREAMED about it. First thing, though, I have to tackle my Wave 3 and Pod_together projects. Then I can tussle with that other bunny. /o\

reminds me of the fan's negative reception of Folie a Deux. "This isn't TTTYG/Cork Tree/Infinity! You bastards!" Stuck in a certain period and demanding that everyone remain stuck with you. No thanks.

Date: 2013-07-06 12:45 am (UTC)Case in point: I love LeATHERMOUTH and DeathSpells but Bloodnun (Frank's OTHER new band) is deffo a no go for me.
Though I totally understand a fan connecting a song or album to a particular time and place in their minds, it's no excuse for rudeness.

Date: 2013-07-06 04:02 am (UTC)Oh, I have no problem with fans not liking a new work. No one's required to like it. I'm thinking of what Patrick said about getting booed when they played FaD songs on their last tour. Idk, Folie was my favorite FOB album before this one, and I can't understand why fans rejected it so soundly. It's like all they wanted was for the band to freeze and only play their old music.
On this tour, I told Patrick how much I liked Folie, and he said "I just listened to it recently, and it's not a bad album." He sounded kind of surprised, as if he'd internalized all the criticism and was only now realizing it wasn't all warranted.

Date: 2013-08-16 06:04 am (UTC)I'm sure you'll have seen the ep by now. I hope so.
It's been great seeing Gerard push back against the negativity that some 'fans' have thrown his way.
I'll never understand the so-called fans who have turned against Gerard simply because he's changed his lifestyle. It's obvious he wanted to spend more time with Bandit and it's not like he's moved away from music completely, even if it's not the kind that some people think he should be making. Seriously if I head desked every time I've seen someone comment that if all four are making music why not be in the band still I'd be unconscious 24/7.
But yeah, I'm glad Gerard seems to have realised it is possible to just move on from things. Not back down, but just show that you don't have to take on every little thing that people say. It had to have been a hard lesson to learn, and I still remain astounded that all four seemingly go on twitter and read their @ replies at times.
Our collective theory is that either Lindsey or their housemaid keeps throwing it out (because, let's face it, chances are it looks like a rag at this point.) But then, somehow, Gerard manages to save it from being trashed time and time again.
I love that theory. It makes a lot of sense because really, that t-shirt is long past where it's an actual garment *g*
How is your wave 3 coming on? Good I hope.
