Sep. 18th, 2013 07:09 pmIt's dad's birthday today, so we're just back from his tea party. All his partner's kids and grandkids were there, too, so it was pretty crowded in the bungalow. Though, I guess more rightly I should say they're his family, too. He's been with Pauline for over 20 years and has been there as all the grandchildren were born and grew up.
Early afternoon I was at mam's. At the moment she's taking being passive aggressive to a new level and it's getting annoying. For example, her heating controls are upstairs, which she can't get to at the moment. Which has to be horrible, I know that. But we can't do right for doing wrong in terms of getting the house to the right temperature. She wants it boiling hot, then says it's too hot, complaining and ranting at length how she has to open the front door and window. On Monday I was up hers nearly all afternoon, and then she made the point the next day how she was freezing as it was so cold. All she had to do was ask me to turn up the heating, especially as I'd been there for hours. Anyway, Friday the council are fitting her a remote control for the heating which she can control from downstairs, which means there's one less thing she can blame us for.
To the surprise of no one I'm sure, I did join no_tags. This was despite realising the claim post would go up while I was out of the house. But, I took note of the time the post would go up, took my iPad with me, and still managed to miss it being posted. I did get a good prompt but man, I was a flailing mess trying to do so, especially working without an actual keyboard. I claimed un-anonymously at first, and then couldn't find the button to delete my comment and then I had to log out and comment again, all the while hoping the prompt would still be there. I needed a moment just to breathe when I was done.
But, there's so many great prompts, and what I especially love is that there's so many great prompts over a big variety of different pairings. That's really great to see, and the mods did a fantastic job, so a big thumbs up to no_tags so far, even if I was a failboat.
I was going to heat up some veggie bolognaise for tea, but Pauline sent us home with plates of party food, and I have to admit, I'm tempted to just eat that and veg watching the TV tonight. I'm sure the bolognaise will keep until tomorrow, the chocolate cake and sandwiches though, not so much.

Date: 2013-09-18 08:31 pm (UTC)Ugh, the situation with your mam sounds really trying.
I knew you couldn't keep away ;-) Good luck with the writing!
So, were you healthy and eat the veggie bolognese or did you follow your temptation and eat cake and sandwiches? :-)

Date: 2013-09-19 05:00 am (UTC)I don't know if it's mam's new meds or the situation, probably a bit of both I'd imagine, but the passive aggression is getting a bit much.
While not in Kimberly's league now, I do retain a little bit of challenge addiction.
I had bolognese followed by a piece of chocolate cake. So I guess, half healthy is the answer.
